Ibiza 3dr 1.6 tdi remap and dpf removal

afternoon all,

Only just joined today, as wanted to have a look round with regards to bits for the ibiza, i drive a 03 seat leon cupra, and ive got the missus a 1.6 tdi ibiza 3dr in red, anyways had it around a month now, and every week without fail the dpf light comes on, so id take it for a blast and get it to regenerate and then the following week itd be back on again.

so decided to sort the car over the weekend as the dpf light had come on,mrs had not let me know and still drove for a few days, the dpf light had turned off but brought on the engine light and glow plug light on, glow plug flashing, and when i plugged it in was showing soot accumulation, so basically dpf full, lovely,

anyway, i got a friend to open up the dpf, remove the insides and wled back up and paint it, then today another friend has been over, remapped the car and also mapped the dpf out of the ecu, so no more annoying lights or limp mode and no more dpf, not drove it yet as im at wrk, but will stick up tommo the results of how it drives etc, looking forward to the drive home in it, might not want to give it the mrs back lol

ill keep you posted buddy, got it done for dirt cheap too so im excited to see how it drives as standard its pretty boggy,the guy i use for remaps is yorkshire based and travels to were ever you are and works on your car at home/work,

update# car drives spot on, alot brisker and now cant set off quick in 1st or 2nd as it just spins the wheels, little flying machine now, well pleased,

eyup, ive not a clue with regards to bhp, usualy id guess at around 25-30 increase for a remap? so maybe now 130 ish 140, nippy enuff for a little run around anyway lol, ill keep an eye on the mpg and let you know

Removed my dpf and got it mapped out too. 135bhp and 55mpg urban driving. If you have dpf removed also recommended to have the egr valve turned off too as they're just as problematic

I'll probably whip the egr off and blank it then if it's a problem, though think it's getting due a flywheel shortly , anyone recommend going the single mass route ??

Are there any MOT issues with mapping round the DPF? I thought it had to be active, or does it just need to be present?

Went from the 1.6 TDI to the 2.0 TDI for more grunt but thought it was a shame that they didn't do a more powerful 1.6 (especially as the 2.0 is nose heavy and the battery fills half of the boot). A 140 BHP 1.6 with six gears would be a great car.

Are there any MOT issues with mapping round the DPF? I thought it had to be active, or does it just need to be present?

The MOT is a visual check of the DPF only. So if you have a gutted DPF it will pass the MOT. That's not to say however that the rules won't change again in the future to make it more difficult to do that.

Went from the 1.6 TDI to the 2.0 TDI for more grunt but thought it was a shame that they didn't do a more powerful 1.6 (especially as the 2.0 is nose heavy and the battery fills half of the boot). A 140 BHP 1.6 with six gears would be a great car.

The DPF needs to "LOOK" like it is still fitted during the MOT - it is a visual check.
As long as the car passes the emission check it will pass the MOT with an empty DPF housing fitted.

If you look at the weights of the cars - there is very little difference between the 1.6TDi, 2.0TDi and Cupra Ibiza's
