New member . New car . New problem lol .. gear box

Hello guys my names jake

Just passed my test on the 5th of January this year and bought myself a leon cupra r 225 bam engine I'm tying to learn a little more as I go so bare with me

The problem as I said I just bought the car two weeks ago and the gear box grinds A bit when selecting 3rd gear and what used to be a whine is now a grind / whine when letting off the throttle or during engine braking I've found a box on ebay for 300 with 30 days warranty which I can fit or would you recommend a gesrbox specialist take it which I imagine will cost the earth and some

Also if you could explain what it is likely to be and why it's gotten so bad in a 1000 miles

I've also just bought one of these and mine grinds letting the clutch off with 3rd selected and then when engine breaking in third. I bought the bits for the o2m shim mid. Although I'm not sure if it will fix it. Many people have said that there's whine, although this is the same symptoms but with a grind and only in 3rd.

I will try this boys but mine grinds a bit during decelerating in 3Rd the others gears it's more of a whur have I already done too much damage hard to say on here I know very helpful info tho thanks alot

New gearbox time.... Budget for a new clutch too as you might as well do it while it's out . If your planning on up rating it think about Uprated clutch too.
Not a bad motor for a first car mate.

Mine dies the same, don't know if I need o2m shim or gearbox recon

Mine whines it's **** off during engine braking in 1st, shim didn't fix it. If and when it brakes I'll just put a different box with a shiny uprated clutch and flywheel combo

Ok that's what I shall do order second hand gear box uprated clutch ( advice of a tidy one is very handy ) and ram them in in a few weeks once I've given this one some stick lol cheers lads top forum
