Excessive Brake Travel Fault, help needed

Hi can anyone help me please.
I have a 2011 Leon Cupra, It has a intermittent brake fault. Basically normal driving round town it is fine , the pedal is fine and brakes are responsive, but when i drive on the motorway or at a higher speed for a while without using the brakes,when i then go to use them the pedal will depress about 50% without doing anything. If i keep pressing it will brake, or if i let off and re apply they are instant. It has been in the garage and the service manager has experianced the fault, it has had a fluid change done but it is no different.
Has anybody had a fault like this or have any ideas. Cheers Neil

Most likely damaged master cylinder if you are not loosing fluid.

Car is now in the dealership for the 5th time a total of 9 days and they have still not found the fault. New master cylinder ,lots of fluid changes and numerous checks. Still no joy. Just fed up with it now.

This may be totally wrong but..... have you checked your wheel bearings? I had a similar problem a few years back, it was worn wheel bearings causing the discs to 'float' and knock the pads & cylinders back. First press of pedal had to take up this extra travel , second press was usually ok. Long shot I know....

Update

Just thought i would update you with what happened. Car spent a total of 14 days in the seat dealership. They changed the master cylinder, 5 times fluid change, apparently checked brake condition and then fitted a new ABS module. Still no change, they then offered to buy the car off me for £5000 less than i paid for it off them 10 months earlier . I then stripped all the brakes down myself and found that one of the sliders on my caliper had seized up with brake dust, the inner pad had worn uneven and was tilting when i braked hard. New discs and pads .cleaned all the calipers up and they are like brand new ,problem sorted. Told the garage and they tried to fill me with crap offererd to change brakes for £500, cost me £160 so much for the experts and the point of a warranty cheers

I reckon they knew what was wrong with it, hence why they tried to stiff you with that offer.
