Just to let the team know who much the dealers make on servicing costs.
Quoted £229 for 2nd service at 25000 miles but my brother how works for Seat got me this for £100 with service stamp etc. Just to let you know over 100% markup. I know normal persons will not get this price but shows they can reduce the rrp by quite a lot.
Good luck.

Doe's that £100 cost also include the continuation of another years Roadside Assistance though ?

what you've experienced isn't evidence of a huge mark-up but a perk of knowing someone in the industry. sure dealers inflate prices but for a 2nd service £229 is extremely reasonable especially if you were to compare to some manufacturers who easily charge more than double that and im not talking boutique brands either. my 1st service with an Alfa main dealer would've cost me close to £400 had i not chosen to go to an independent Alfa specialist instead for £179. From my experience main dealer stamps add little weight to the resale value if you've the documentation to show you kept to the service schedules using approved main dealer consumables. You've the freedom to shop around as long as the garage you use is VAT registered.

Just to give people some breakdown into the costs for the Seat 2nd year service. Oil alone is £11.89 P/l For the Seat approved grade the dealers Fill there tanks with. For the cupra taking 5.7l that is £68 in oil alone Then the Oil filter + pollen filter + sump plug ~£25 the VHC ~29.95 if we say ~1 hours labour with the VHC and the mountain of paper work that is needed for us we bill at £100.

Then you have all the other services Free collection/delivery loan cars Free service wash you can quite quickly see that there really isn't much money for the dealers in servicing a car.

I think when the all the costs are added up the dealer makes less than £50 from a service.

There fixed price the dealer cannot charge more or less for them You'll most likely find your brother bought the parts from the parts department and had authority from the SM to do the job in his own time.

just bought a Leon which was exactly 1 year old, paid £99 for 2years servicing and they just servised it before handing me the keys

Just thought i would add that i paid £1 less than you but got twice the amount of services :p

Plus one on what fmxvxx is saying.. Not forgetting the latest diagnostic software. Any recalls or software needed and the fact when the vehicle is out of warranty. The goodwill that the brand offer.. Sorry willie you have been ripped off has I did my brothers for nothing well I say nothing just the cost of the filter and oil ...

Yep you got to feel sorry for these dealership owner's running these dealerships out the kindness of their heart's with no thanks and people always moaning about how much a service or repairs cost. :(

Can just pictured them now, these dealership owner's, *all sitting round on their yachts in say Monaco drinking champagne maybe when the *F1 is on watching all the poorer people than them racing round in cars they don't even own in the scorching heat without aircon. *Bet they are probably having just the same discussion as we are in this thread ;) :D

When I had an Astra I got it serviced at a main dealer for £68. They used to run a Trade Club scheme where owners could buy parts at trade prices. I used to get an air filter, oil filter and 6 litres of oil for £18 at the parts desk, take it to the service desk and ask "How much for a service, labour only?". "Fifty quid OK?"
