Door rattles

Great isn't it…you pay quite a bit for a new car, still in warranty and a dealer network for backup and you end up buying the tools and taking the time to sort out these snags yourself.

I'll never buy another Seat. I'd get rid of mine tomorrow if it could afford to.

I don't even have the time to fix it myself.
I suppose i'll just have to collect it and live with a rattle on it for the next 30 months :thumbd:

I've have a rattle on my current car (vw bora) from new, which I've had for 10 years, you get used to it eventually!! Though every now and then it gets a little louder, at those times I think..'oo I must sort out that annoying rattle' then I forget about it!

Impressive :), I really can't bear mine..
It's worse that I paid for the SEAT Sound System, and I can't use it fully because it just makes everything rattle...

I forgot to say its intermittent, otherwise it would have driven me mad! And its somewhere near the gear lever area rather than a door rattling, the rest of the car is pretty solid, just for that one rattle every so often!

Yes. My dealer did it, no questions asked.

I know in general they all get hammered on here, but my dealer has been great with me. Just hope saying it out loud hasn't ruined it...

I booked mine in for the rattling doors and speedo and when I took it in they'd got the recall details on the job card all ready. They sorted it but one still remains on the rear door so it's going back in for that in a couple of weeks.

I've had cars in the past that have had hard to find rattles and had them with the dealer only to be told on pick up "we couldn't find anything". Persistence definately pays off as eventually they'll hear it and fix it.

Thankfully with the door rattles there is a known SEAT bulletin for it so they acknowledge it's an issue which is a big start. Take it in and let them have a look, they'll put some foam packing in or something but it definately helps. If it's not right when they've looked at just take it back until it is, as it's still related to the original issue they should sort it until you're satisfied.

I agree with cptSparko, my dealers been spot on so i'm hoping the next visit will be as succesful.

And I can't really fault mine (Lancaster in Milton Keynes). They're better than average.

That's good to hear. I phoned the dealer I purchased from to discuss my door rattles and speaker issues and they couldn't give a toss, judging by their attitude on the phone I didn't think it was worth the time off work and a 150 mile round trip to get told "we couldn't find anything wrong".

Lancaster aren't too far from me so I'm going to use them from now on.

I've got 2 near me so I'm using the one I bought it from but have always got the backup of their other one for a second opinion. Worked when I had a vx and one dealer couldn't care less, took it to the second and all fixed.

I wonder if later models have some of the door rattles solved by the factory?
My cars build week was 19th, and it should be arriving beginning or mid June. Not a MY2016, but still... I also ordered the sound system, so I hope I don't just get a bunch of rattling when listening anything a little louder.
Fingers crossed.

mine was built 2nd week of January and i've no issue with any SS induced rattles even up to significant volumes. i do notice the creaks and rattles though when the audio is off mostly from the dash - the interface between the hard and soft plastic joints around the instrument cluster. door cards were supposed to have been sorted several weeks ago but the dealer just relocated the rattle to another area of the door lol :(

I must have been a lucky one too. A mid/late 2014 build. So far it has rattled less than my Audi Black Edition i had and definitely less than the WRX STI!!!

Does having full leather make a difference? I have heard that in some cars before.

The rattles don't discriminate :D. I have leather seats and mine still rattled.
