I wouldn't worry about wax or anything needing to be stripped. The car will likely be washed with a strong shampoo solution which would remove wax and if that didn't do it then the claying surely would.

Claying won't remove any wax. It "floats" over the wax picking out any imperfections that have contaminated the paintwork.

I guess it depends on the grade but standard clay is abrasive. Granted there are more effective ways but clay will definitely remove wax.

I've also discovered www . cleanmycar . ie (sorry, cannot post URLs yet). Anybody tried them for the same thing as Spirit?

I don't know anything about them.
I've used Elite Autoclean in Blanchardstown a couple of times and they're excellent. I've not used kingpin (think they're near Sandyford) but they do good work though are pricey from what I've heard.
