Do I have Roadside Assistance?

Hi Guys,

Read a few contradicting reports on this subject...

Last weekend I bought a May 2014 registered Leon Mk3 from a Seat dealer.

The keyring they supplied has a seat assistance key fob on.

Its my understanding that this is free for 2 years from registration....Does that mean I have it as the second owner until May 2016?

Can I cancel my RAC?

I have had my mk2 seven years and has been covered whole time when it's serviced you get a further year, you get a letter and email to confirm from seat rather than dealer from memory.

According to the SEAT website you have to book your service on line rather than via the dealer, which seems a bit silly. Does anyone know if you get the extension booking direct with the dealer - my dealer doesn't seem to know about the cover extension anyway?

You still get it booking directly with the dealer. You get an email from Seat after the service.

Where ever the wife tells me
Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but do you receive any kind of confirmation of Seat Assistance cover?

The reason for asking is, I've always had cover with the RAC but this years renewal is just shy of £100. So I want to cancel the RAC cover and use SA should the car breakdown. I've not had anything through the post from Seat regarding the cover. I bought the car as a 1 year old approved used Seat.

Cheers.

If you car is less than 3 years old it will still be under SEAT warranty and as such it includes SA for the full 3 year warranty period. It is after the warranty period expires that you will get an additional year each time you get a service done at a main dealer. The 3 year SEAT warranty on my car had just expired but I got a year SA extension (confirmation by email) because I recently had a service done by the dealer.

It's a little annoying because I didn't realise until just recently that SA includes European cover. Last year I took my car abroad and I needlessly paid £40 for a few days of European breakdown cover

Has anyone had to use it?
Will who they send out to you if you're unfortunate to breakdown, attempt to fix your car, or do they just load it on the truck and take it to the nearest seat dealer ?

Cheers guys, do you have a membership card or number? I don't have any proof of membership. The car is just over 1 year old.

Your registration number is your membership ID. If you ever need to use it you phone a dedicated SEAT Assistance phone number (not the AA direct) and they will have a log of your car on their system.

SA is 2y from new, the warranty is 3y.

I was told 3 years (same as warranty period) by the dealer I bought mine off. Unless they were lying to me or things have since changed (?)

It would also make sense for the SA period to be the same length as the warranty because if you get left stranded due to an issue with the car then it should be some of SEAT's responsibility under the warranty agreement to make sure you are given as much help as possible. I'll have a look through the small print later on and see if I can find anything.

You're right. I was wrong. I just looked in the documents that came with my car and it states 2 year SA from first registration date. I guess I should have looked at that before.

At least I didn't waste £40 last year when I took out European breakdown cover.
