Hi all I need to change my LCR front discs and pads.

I tried the search function to find a guide on how to do this but the link that keeps cropping up in the search results takes me to the seatcupra.net home page and there is no link in the mk1 Leon guide section either?

Can someone direct me to a guide or give me some advice. I'm particularly interested in any torque setting I may need

Thanks in advance Jon

Other than the 5 wheel studs there are only 2 bolts that hold the caliper on to remove. I just did mine up tight too. I didn't bother finding a torque for it. Just make sure you clean and grease up the caliper pins that hold the pads in place as they can corrode. My stainless steel shims when the pads sit on had started to corrode under the shim lifting it up so I had to grind the pads down until they fitted too.

Caliper to the adapter bolts (allen head) 115 Nm.
Caliper adapter to hub - 125 Nm.

You only need to undo one of these, and the manual says to undo the adapter to hub bolts, that way the brake hose support stays attached to the adapter.

For what it's worth, the retaining screw in the brake disk has a setting of 4 Nm. I think "tight enough" covers this. If you put a little grease on this screw it may help to stop it rusting in place. It is only there to hold the disk in place while you wrestle the wheel on and get the wheel bolts engaged - they take all the braking force.

Hi thank you for the information.

Am I right in thinking to remove the pins I knock them out by punching/ hammering them inwards towards the car?

How do I put them back? Do I just punch/ hammer them back into place?

Jon

Yes punch and hammer inwards towards engine and same in reverse for putting back together.
Mine where quite tight and did take quite a bit of force to get them out so don't be shy give it a good wack
