Ibiza MK4 1.8T Cupra Gearbox Query

Hi guys,

just a quick one, will a mk4 golf agu 5 speed gearbox fit?

or if you could recommend any other 5 speed box from a 1.8T which will go?

So the gearbox off a 1.8t 5 speed golf has fit on, drive shafts all fit etc, only issue is the top gearbox mount does work with the body. Any advise on how to over come this?

Modify the bracket?
Custom bracket?

Theres seriously no body with any advise?

The box gone in is a 02J, the original mount won't slide on to the gearbox section as the gearbox section is too chunky

How did you get on? I had this problem and the bracket had to be cut and re-welded, can get photos if you want.

hi mate, yeah done the exact same thing, my dad got the bracket cut and welded to suit, drives spot on

I had a look and couldnt find my photos of the mod, cars currently in the garage and i wont be getting it back till next week. if your really needed them i could maybe drive out to it over the weekend take some photos.

I’m just using the casing it’s a got a 6 speed straight cut dog engagement gear set inside

its built by Sqs they supply the gear kits but will build the box for not much extra.
My old box gave up so just wanted something I knew would take the abuse.

check out SQSracing website they have a few different options for building a strong gear box

my SQS box has a plate type diff,
with my old box it has a wavetrac diff in it
