"All in all, the driver of the Seat seems to know the track better than the test pilot inside the Alfa for some reason and that may also be one of the explanations why it was able to keep up. Either way, it’s a really interesting video to watch, especially given the input the driver offers, the man apparently knowing what he’s talking about."
The nurburgring is all about track knowledge, as said dale knows it like the back of his hand. Went out with him some years back in his 200 odd bhp Alfa 75. The things we were hassling on the bends was ridiculous!
Its an accolade that someone who is an expert at the NBR chose the Cupra ST as the best tool for the job plus dealing with everyday life. That's what these cars are all about.
As said on the Nordschleife the skills of the driver combined with the track experience are at least as important as the quality of the car (on a real / modern racetrack the seat would have a much harder time to keep up).
Recently watched a video of Nino Pallavicini on his 1000 RR followed by a Megane RS. Normally this would be no match at all but the renault driver knows the track so well that he manages to follow.
I always loved this vid where another 'ring expert hassles a 911 GT3 in a Clio 200 and eventually the Porsche driver crashes trying to get away from the little hatchback!
