New user, here goes...

My current Cupra R 265 has a space saver wheel. If a front tyre punctures, I have to take a wheel off the back, replace it with the space saver, then swap the punctured front for the good rear. Apparently, the space saver won't clear the front brake calipers. Seems reasonable, though I've never had to do so.

So why does the Cupra ST 280 with the sub 8 performance pack, I'm considering buying, delete the space saver? The 370mm discs and huge Brembos are only on the front. I'm also thinking of the full sound system, which puts the extra sub woofer inside the space saver.

Dealer near me can't answer the question. I don't fancy driving around with only a tube of extra sticky toothpaste as a repair kit.

Thoughts from the experts appreciated. I test drove the standard car, and I love it.

Its not to do with the brakes. I can confirm that the 18" spacesaver supplied with the R from bitter experience DOES fit over the brakes. The reason given for not putting it on the front is because of it being FWD.
Cannot comment on current Cupra as luckily we haven't had a puncture yet. I would assume that the spare supplied (got the sound system) would fit over the standard brakes, dunno about the uprated ones.

Does it have to do with the 280 being FWD and the space saver wheel having a smaller diameter which would break the differential lock? Like some 4WD needs equally worn tires so it doesn't break the center differential.

The Sub8 brakes are bigger remember! I pretty much doubt the space saver in my SC would go over my Ferrari brakes. it will clear the OEM 345mm brake kit but not the Brembo kit.
