Mines affected but no map etc so not too fussed, more concerned is if it releases the "true" CO2 figure and the cars get re-classified in the VED bands and the RfL increases - then I'll be furious along with a few million in the UK no doubt

That's alright then, I'm still thinking there is no incentive to actually go through grief of taking it in.

Depends what they offer as a 'carrot'.

I assume if they make fundamental changes to your car (e.g. reports of injector changes on 1.6) then they are going to have to warrant the work and could be some benefits/compensation.

Least it's not a zafira catching fire' then I could understand lmao

I just bought a Seat after a Vauxhall (Astra) catching fire.....emissions scandal doesn't worry me!

Slightly concerned that Das Deutsch are making this a compulsory recall. There's no way in taking mine in unless it's compulsory. There's no way that the fix will be something you would want doing.

I want factual evidence that power and economy will not be lowered by this recall before I have anything done and I don't mean just a statement from Seat saying that power and economy won't be affected as this is probably bullshit just to stop people taking legal action.
If power and or economy are affected I'm going to seek advice as the car is no longer the car I bought as advertised by Seat, therefore false advertised = law breaking = refund for me!
what would be good is for someone to have their car rolling road tested to see power output before and after the recall, perhaps one of the traders on here will offer their services......not too sure how MPG could be measured as there are too many variables that can affect this.

This is exactly what I was saying to the wife

What if it increases economy and power, as you say it will still be "falsely advertised" :cartman:

Power and economy won't be affected if you don't take the car for recall. But then you'd likely have nothing better to do

If I had nothing better to do, I could start writing pointless posts like yours.

As most VAG engines seem to produce more than the power output claimed, don't think that will be an issue, I.e power will be that stated.in any case, I'm sure buried somewhere in the small print there is a percentage factor for power output, as in " 140 BHP +/- 5%"
As for fuel economy..... what cars do match the manufacturers mpg figures? That'll be another one with a get out clause.

Anyone know is SEAT would do the recall as part of a service unless you told them not to?

Surely something will be effected otherwise the details of the recall would be simple, it sounds like it's a bit more than just removing the software otherwise they would already know what they need to do. My guess is if they are going to reduce Oxides of Nitrogen they'll be playing around with the time the EGR is open effecting maybe torque, warm up times ? and more chance of the Inlet manifold being clogged with soot over time !

p.s would this thread be better in the TDI forum ?
