Do they? Just been sat in the reception for 3 and a half hours waiting for them to fix my dash and door rattle. Get halfway home, low and behold the rattle is back! Not happy.

Welcome to my world. Ive had to start my car 5 times today but Ive only made two journeys - trying to reset the dodgy headlamp levelling system. Blazing!!
Nope, that's it. The auto-levelling is tied into the engine startup, so it does it whenever the ignition is reset... Even when only DRLs are on. That's why sometimes when you see them come on they don't seem to level. They already did it, you just couldn't see them doing it. Each time you turn the key they should do it.
I've heard that on some cars it even does it successfully. Mine usually needs two or three attempts at the whole procedure before they'll work properly.
Oh, and in reply to the original poster, YES, I suspect they do, at least part time!

I honestly think the later cars are better built my MY16 Sc FR is better built than the 2013 built SE 5dr I had (it had a slight drivers door rattle) nothing in the new car yet Less than 800 miles on the clock ... though time will tell
My rear convenience light switch was held on by what could be best described as a blob of mayonnaise, I believe the fitter must have damaged it while trying to fit it then grabbed a blob of whatever they could get hold of to fanny it back on the car !! I did not taste it but it was wet and looked like mayonnaise....
it'll be the Spanish equivalent to salad cream, I expect.
Although I think Peugeot and Citroen have to use mayonnaise. It's the Leuawww (apologies for trying to represent a stereotypical french accent)
Well I have had some new french cars before with loose steering racks from the factory and engines needing major work at 3k miles. The Mayo botch was a new one on me I should of licked it
They don't make em like they used to! No rattles knocks and all very tight just over 90k

I got told (not sure if correct) that it is due to deliberate cost cutting with this generation of VAG vehicles?
That wouldn't surprise me, it's so u have to keep going back and spending money

My SC is MY13 and it rattles everywhere... People warned me not to buy a brand new model but I didn't listen. I guess nowadays one should buy cars that are about to be replaced with new models in order to be sure all possible problems have been rectified.

I guess nowadays one should buy cars that are about to be replaced with new models in order to be sure all possible problems have been rectified.Just got mine today and when I got home I found part of the plastic below steering wheel wasn't fitted properly- they hadn't removed all plastic wrap so it wasn't secured and luckily was easy to fix. I hope I don't get many of the gremlins seen on this forum as fab car otherwise !!!

I remember a loooong time ago a neighbour came him in his new company car , a B reg Montego 1.6HL ( one of the first-the fool!) it was dark when he came home, next morning he's knocking my door as soon as it was light. "come and have a look at this and tell me I'm not going mad" so off I trot. It was a metallic blue,looked ok on the outside. ( I said it was a loooong time ago!) he opened the rear doors, yes, it had seats, then he opened the front door, yup, two seats there, driver & passenger.... But...... The passenger seat was a different colour to the drivers and rear seats..... They were greyish with a pinstripe in, the passenger one was more blue with a totally different pattern. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall at the dealers that day....

Doesn't make a difference my SC is MY15 and still has a load of rattles.
It has already gone for some service campaign to fix the rattles on the A-pillars and they stopped rattling indeed. So the rattle choir lost a prominent singer Which doesn't make any big difference though since the side trim rattle, as well as something in the trunk. The dealers told me it's the same with VW and Audi, although I doubt it. In any case, I am not going to pay the extra cash to just have a rattle-free car. It's beyond me why it is so difficult to build a rattle-free car in today's state of robotized technology and design, new materials, etc. Is it really a rocket science?!
