that's what you think is happening but what the car is doing is actually tricking you by showing individual as still selected and keeping every element apart from the engine and throttle response which automatically reverts to normal unless you reselect the mode again each time you start the engine

page 170 in the user manual

As yours is a manual, looks like another advantage of having DSG has come to light.

Just checked and mine isn't doing that (FR SC Manual), ie it is staying in the selected mode (Sport).

Ignition on, Check the mode (Sport) then show > Profile (Sport/Sport/Norm/Red for Eng/Steering/AC/Lighting).
Start engine and recheck, mode and profile unchanged.

It's been that way since I initially set the car up, changing to Normal for "Engine" is immediately obvious when driving so I'm confident that I'd notice.

Seems like some do and some don't stay in the selected mode, software version?

Does the engine feel like it's in Sport and does the Sound still come out of the actuator?

Im not sure about DSG tbh so interested to know what has come to light ? do you not have different driving modes with DSG or is there another reason why this does not effect DSG ?

Thanks

what MY is yours ?

I thought the sound actuator was only fitted to Cupras

It was on the FR but they did away with it, Im not sure if it covered all engines or just the 180 and 184 as with the uprated suspension and brakes

Checked my cupra this morning. Engine mode set to cupra and was still on cupra when started from cold. The dsg does revert to d on cold start as others have clarified which I actually like as I find s to revvy for everyday driving but fine for spirited runs.

how did you check the engine mode?

What you'll find is although it says it's still in the same mode actually the engine is running in normal.
Take it for a spirited drive then unselect the mode and then reselect it. You'll notice the difference straight away.

The actuator is still active which only happens in cupra mode. I wonder if this can be settled with some wizardry using vcds?

that is like saying the lighting is still red which it only does when in sport so it must be in sport, but that's not the point ! the driving mode will always show as the last selected driving mode be it cupra or sport or individual and all elements of that mode such as steering, sound actuator etc will remain APART from the engine which will revert to normal by stealth until you reselect that mode ! still if people don't notice then no biggie

No actuator fitted.
Throttle response feels like the engine is still in Sport mode. However, I tend to take it easy until Oil temp starts to read (ie Coolant is at 90 degrees), which might mask it. However, it feels like Sport mode subsequently, as I've tried Curtly's method see below) of deselect/reselect without any noticeable change whilst selecting normal (engine) gives a clearly less aggressive response.

The modes and individual elements are certainly annunciating as you describe, I'll check again, but as above resetting Sport (engine) doesn't appear to produce a difference, but selecting Normal clearly does reduce the throttle response. One of life's mysteries...

I meant you have this fault with a manual and I don't with the DSG, as it stays in the selected mode (in D instead of S) when I restart the next day.

I'm sure my car starts back in same mode as I left it, but will have to check in the morning now!!
