Well after 10 weeks the day has finally arrived to pick my new car up.
1.8tsi dsg leon FR 5door in monsoon with tech and convenience pack plus and 18inch alloys.
Dealer sent me a video yesterday when she arrived and she looks amazing even with half of the protective wrap still on the car.

Just hope I like the 1.8dsg engine as it was a bit of a gamble as the dealer couldnt locate one for a test so I settled for a test in a 184 but I only do low miles so didn't require a diesel.
Current car is a 1.6 110hp mini paceman so I'm hoping notice a big difference In power. I will post some pics when she is home and I have enough posts.

Plans are to get started
Pressed plates
Plasti dip leon letters and front and rear seat badge
Plasti dip grill surround and behind the front numberplate plate
Heko wind deflectors

Arranged to collect from dealer at 3pm.. have a feeling work today is going to drag .

I honestly thought you were describing the dealer as looking amazing haha, congrats on the car I'm sure a 70bhp gain will be very noticeable for you

Ha ha sorry just read my post and yes it comes across a bit wrong. I Deffo mean the car and not the middle aged dealer.

The 1.8 is a fantastic engine. Mine is a manual but I've loved every minute of ownership, will be sad to see it go later this morning .. until that is I get in the Cupra !

I read a lot of good reviews on the 1.8 so I'm sure I'll love it. Do you get much of a exhaust note and turbo whoosh or is it a quiet engine?
Bet you can't wait for your cupra:D

Quality mate I loved the 184 when I test drove it but the amount of miles I do would have given me dpf problems so chose the Petrol. What colour you getting?

Yeah I do about 12/13k a year so diesel makes more sense and monsoon grey as well haha I love the way it looks and there's too many black cars around

I have that exact car ,colour, engine and dsg. Had it over 2 years now and still love it, performance is great and i do mostly city driving so the dsg is perfect for stop start all the time.
I wouldn't of minded getting another tbh but the lease deals on cupra I couldnt resist ha that comes December :happy:

Enjoy mate its a great car :D:D

So far so good. Only done 50 odd miles so far but loving it. Dsg is awesome. Only slight niggle so far is the paddles are a bit small and could with being a tad bigger.

Paddle extensions are widely available on the internet and not much money. Usually just double sided tape onto what's there. Make a big difference!

Cheers matey. Had a look on eBay and there's a local guy in Oldham selling some for £30ish might have a ride up and see what the quality a like.

Had a quick blip of throttle this morning on way to work and it's safe to say it can shift.. a lot fast than my mini did. Not given it full beans as I want to try and take it easy for a few hundred miles.

One question to anyone who might know. I can't find anywhere on the menu or settings the bass and treble settings for music. Am I being blind or isn't there an option to do this?

Hit the menu button, scroll around to the 3 vertical bar symbol (Sound Settings) and select (push in the rotary selector).

It's a graphic equaliser type (like an 80s boombox, rather than the "tone" controls on your gramophone) :p Bass on the left, highest tones on the left.

Tap the bar on the touch screen and you can then select + or - to adjust.

Generally most people prefer a bit of bass boost and some treble lift, so the bars form a gentle U-shape, but have a fiddle.

You can also adjust where the sound is centred (balance and fader controls combined)
...and there's a speed controlled volume adjustment (Lo-Med-Hi iirc) so that it sounds broadly the same volume irrespective of speed/cabin noise.

Awesome cheers mate just had a fiddle. Sounds much better now. Thanks for taking the time to post that bit of info mate.

Great engine and gearbox combo, I'm sure you'll love it. Sold ours yesterday and in many ways it will be missed. Certainly won't miss the rattling doors and creaky seals though! :p

Already loving it. Was having a play before in sport mode with paddles and I swear I could hear a hint of dsg fart on upshift I think . Sounds cool if it is.
