Hi, I've got a 2015 seat Leon and wondering what is the cause of a whistling / whining noise when I accelerate. This is a vacuum leak? I do not have much knowledge of engines lol

It could be anything from a bearing to the turbo!

I would be taking it to the dealer and ask them to take a look but don't let them fob you off as it shouldn't be whistling! if they say they all do it then let me know so I can take mine in to be fixed lol

For some reason the radiator fan is always operating much louder when driving now and the start/stop system isn't working either.

I know what that is but it is constantly on now every time I am in the car and I'm not doing short journeys. The 'battery is low' icon has come up now

That combined with you first post could be anything, as stu-m said.
Maybe post up a video of the noise, people might be able to help if they can hear it.
Or a trip to the dealer, it should be under warranty :)

Sounds sort of like a diesel- the microphone seems to make then sound much more tapperty than it probably does in real life or that's my experience of taking sound clips of engine noise- what is the noise at around 00.7 seconds? Is that the whistling noise you were referring too? Sounds like something stopping spinning/spooling down just after the engine has stopped, turbo, fan or similar maybe.
Don't know what others think, but nothing sounded untoward to me in the sound clip, just sounded like a diesel engine running then stopping :)

I'm going to have to get a video of the sound after acceleration which should hopefully give a better representation of the whistling noise. Thanks
