So I've had my Cupra 300 for a little over 3 weeks and I love it, however I've encountered something unexpected.

After probably half of my drives (even when being gentle) the cars cooling fan is running after I switch the engine off. It's hardly been warm in the U.K. Lately, between 10-14 degrees in the day where I am. I've checked oil and coolent levels and they're fine.

Now someone has told me these Cupra engines run hot but just want to check to see if others have anything similar happening.

I did do a quick search both here and on google but all the results were about interrupted DPF regens.

So, is this normal or do I need to book the car in? TIA

Mine is a 290 but there should not be any differences in this regard.. I have never experienced the cooling fan running after I turn off the engine - even in 45'C in southern Spain.

However I always let the engine idle a little (some minutes if it's got a good workout) before I turn it off to let the turbo cool down properly first. How you tried that?

Regarding temperatures, mine was running at 103-108'C oil when properly warm in normal driving as stock (approaching 120'C when pushing it). It is running a few degrees cooler after it got a Revo remap. Water temperature is always at 90'C.

Neither previous 280 and current 290 do this, even after hard driving. Have you actually seen it running or are you going by the noise, as the electric coolant pump runs on for a while, and can be heard clearly.

I know what you mean by the sound of the coolent pump, both my Octavia VRS' did the same and the Cupra does it too, this is absolutely they fan that's running. As I say it's not ever time and it still happens if the car has been driven gently.

Sounds like I need the dealership to take a look.

I have a new facelifted FR 184 DSG and just like you noticed mine also works after I turn the car off nearly on half of my drives. I got the car for about 4 weeks now and temp outside is from 10 to 20 degrees.

With your car being a diesel I should imagine you're experiencing interrupted DPF regenerations, obviously mine shouldn't be doing that unless VAG have fitted the new GPF early. (God I hope not)
