Hi guys,

I'm sure one of you lot will know the answer to this, I'd love to get the side skirt upgrade from Seat themselves as it makes the car look so much nicer.

Has anyone enquired about getting this done or had it done themselves?

How long did it take and cost?

Thanks in advance

Are you wanting to fit yourself? I sourced skirts and got them painted myself. Fitting on the drive is easily achievable and best with extra pair of hands.

I can fit myself, I saw a set of emoticon red ones on ebay since posting this. The guy selling said they are bought from the main dealer already painted and bolt straight on and cost £409. I think I need to call the miserable parts guy at Seat to get the low down from the horses mouth :-|

dont suppose you have before and after pics do you?

Bought mine brand new from a chap on eBay for £250 primed, and they are currently at the paint shop being sprayed up as we speak.

Had varying prices quoted for painting and fitting:

- Cheap paint shop £300
- Decent trusted/approved paint shop £400
- SEAT paint shop £500

I don't have a drive and they need to be glued and screwed. Didn't fancy getting it wrong especially as you need to pre-drill the sills first and not going to risk it on my new Cupra even through I'm sure it's not that difficult with a second pair of hands and some masking tape.

If you get yours pre-painted (seen red and Black advertised recently) then fitting by a body shop should be just £100-£150.

Just out of interest, the official price by SEAT to do everything including purchase of the skirts was over £900. My dealer said he would do them for £745 on top of my new Cupra order, which wasn't bad given the skirts retail for £476 unpainted from SEAT to start with.

I will post some pictures when mine is fitted.

Not sure what skirts you have but the seat oems ones I have don't require drilling of the sills. The skirts clip onto the sill seam with large plastic clips and the ends screw into the cardboard archliner with one end already having a screw in place which just needs changing to larger length.

I have the SEAT OEM mk3 5dr/ST skirts like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-GENUI...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

but mine have small black square grommets that screw into the sill underneath and then the skirts have little brackets which slide over the grommets and then you screw through the skirt and into the grommets. The front part of the sill (under the door) is just glued in place.

I looked at the instructions and thought I could never fit these on my own. Whole skirts have to be temporarily lined up with masking tape, pilot holes drilled for the grommets, grommets fixed to car, then the glue applied to the skirt and then skirt slipped over the grommets and held in place whilst you then screw the skirt into the grommets and the side into the arch liner.

Maybe they have changed the design in the way they are fixed or the SC has an easier fixing method.

You can get official SEAT parts from www.directseatparts.co.uk, I bought my spoiler from there and planned on buying my side skirts from there too until the parts guy at my local garage offered me them at cost when I was in for service!

I got my spoiler painted and fitted by my local bodyshop for £100 which was a big saving in comparison to SEAT.

They look like the same skirts as mine that required no drilling into sill. The pilot holes in the pic on my 5dr oem skirts are to bolt the plastic clips to the skirt which clip over the seam weld underneath the car. Not sure why seat would change clip system to one which needed sills drilling?

I have spoken to the main dealer in milton keynes, and the parts guys says the aero skirts come at £290 inc vat, not painted or fitted. He says they dont offer them painted anymore, but the part number he gave me was 5F0071685GRU.

Are these the parts that any of you guys have purchased? If so are these the ones that need holes drilling?

Part no 5F0071685 is for the new side blades and not the full side skirts that you originally got in the black and performance packs on the 280/290. I have no idea how the blades are fixed to the side of the sill but the price you quote isn't bad. They are listed as £410 in the 2017 catalogue.

The part number for the side skirts is 5F0071610. I may have been wrong about drilling the sills as someone who has the same skirts says the clips go over the weld seams and then the skirts are screwed to the clips and also glued on the top edge. Unfortunately I can't check as I handed everything over to the paint shop but will get the instructions back when they have been fitted to double check.

Also remember that 5F in the part number means the 5dr/ST and not the SC. The SC side skirts do not fit 5dr/ST and visa-versa. Not sure about the blades though as they don't fit round the whole sill.

Thanks for all your help mate really appreciate it.

The guy at seat has just sent me two low resolution images of the two options. Blades and skirts. This is the dirt I'm hearing of the blades, what do we think to these? Do they just fit in the same place the aero skirts would? Hard to see from the image he's sent what they actually look like, but they look ok to me

Here are a couple of pictures to compare. First the full side skirts on a SC:

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=405942

And here are some pictures of the blades:

http://www.seatcupra.net/index.php/2017/02/14/2017-seat-leon-cupra-300-review-road-track/

It is personal choice, but the blades do not give the car a lower appearance as they attach onto the side of the sills and jut out from the side of the car like a small wing. The full skirts are contoured to match the lines of the Leon and give the car a lower sportier appearance.

There is also a better picture of the blades in the Seat Leon brochure which you can view on line (pages 70/71).

These are official Skirts here from listers seat one ebay:
Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/302403515203

You will need to buy the adhesive kit too for about 20 quid but still alot cheaper than most other places. Im currently sat in seat showroom waiting to pick my car up as they are just finishing it off

Also i had to arrange delivery for the skirts too as they dont deliver

OK thanks guys I'm going to order the skirts, not the blades. been googling the hell out of this all week and there has been very limited info on them, so really appreciate the help.

Will add pictures in a couple of weeks when she's done

The guy at Seat just emailed me wit ha price for the skirts,

SKIRTS £356.67 inc VAT
GLUE £60.00 inc VAT

must be the kind of glue that Coyote uses to catch road runner or something, cus that's some pricey sticky stuff!

I found the seat supplied adhesive kit to be useless. Ended up using a bead of no nails silicon on the skirts and sent the seat adhesive kit back. They ain't going anywhere now :) I was charged £10 plus vat for the seat adhesive kit so think they've got some markup there. It's only adhesive nothing special. Don't be sucked into to buying seat badged adhesive any strong adhesive compatible with paint / clear coat will do.
