That noise is from the strut mounts rubbing against the chassis. You didn't use any sort of lube did you ?

Its only when it has water, I dont know about the lube. Should I use or not?

The late 2009 Ibiza SC that I replaced the front struts, springs, bearing and mounting on, does not make any noises wet or dry. I don't think that there is any need to apply any lubrication on these top rubber mounts. Maybe it is the ARB drop links that are making that noise?

It could have some grease there indeed...

One more reason to use it, water and rubber definetly make squeak noise. I use a thin film of teflon grease on the part that sits again the chassis.

If you buy Powerflex strut mounts they come with copper grease to eliminate the squeak noise and to provide some lubrification.

I hope the squeak noise goes away after a while, today I don't have it... maybe it was because a lot of water got into the top mount while washing the car... I washed around that location a lot because he used a lot of grease to remove and put the damper. and I wanted to remove it.

also one other thing... the brake line only goes inside the shock absorver support holder untill point 1 cant put if further, I think it should go untill point 2 and I would put the clip at point 1? Or both the holder and clip stay at point 1?

One holder is for the ABS cable and the other for the round metal part of the brake line.

I know but the new shock seems to have a smaller hole than the OEM for the brake line and so only goes inside untill point 1 I marked in the image.

I think it should go untill point 2 and put the clip at point 1

Well, since I damaged mine while hammering them so the strut slide into place, I ziptied the cables to them.

You should examine the hole in the strut and the metal part on these brake pipes, I hope that you find that there is a flat section in both to make sure that the brake hose is in the correct orientation. If I'm being honest, I also I also had trouble getting the brake pipe to fit into that hole fully, but in my case, the metalwork on the brake pipes were very rusty - rotate the pipe slightly and it should get in line with the mating "flat" area in the strut bracket.

I've just checked the old struts that I still have in my garage, and the "flat" part of the hole in the strut bracket, is at the back where it is welded to the strut, it "sits" vertically - if that makes sense, it is not too obvious, but when you know that it exists, you will find it - something that I forgot about when I was replacing these struts. I think that I managed to fit an open ended spanner over the "crimped/crushed" area of that metal sleeve on the brake hose so that I would rotate it into the exact correct position. Do you still have the spring clip/wedges?

I dont have the clips, I ordered them online.

When they arrive I will renove the wheel (I was trying to avoid that but seems impossible without it) but I'm trying to figure out how they work because as it was not me who replaced the dampers I dont know how they were before. (Without removing the wheel I could not figure out how to put it in place)
Alao trying not to break anything.

These retaining spring clips fit down in vertically, and I'd think that the most obvious/easiest way round would be okay, there is a "flat" turned over part on the top, probably just to make tapping them down into place easier on the assembly line. I seem to remember refitting the ones on the late 2009 Ibiza so that the folded over part faces away from the bracket - that allows it to be pressed down tapped/hammered down past the level of the top of that bracket - if you can work out what I mean.

I'm trying to think why it will not be laterally, if you mean for the direction to fit the clips.

Right, the retaining spring clips have long "legs" at the open end and these "legs" would hit up against the strut body before they were fully engaged/fitted as designed, so it has to be vertically.

If you were meaning how/where the "flat" area is in that strut bracket, it is definitely vertically at the "back/rear" furthest away from the slot/opening on the bracket.

Yes I mean the retaining clip. Thanks for the information

Humm, I've just looked at the Haynes repair manual that I have for the 6R Polo, and it shows that retaining clip to be fitted horizontally! (laterally)

So there must be enough space for it to get fitted that way round! (fitting either way round would be okay I'd think)

Yesterday I tested and I could put it in, it was the angle as you said.

Now its just waiting for the clips and put them when they arrive.

Yes, I think either way will have the same effect.
