Remap, if money can stretch, stage 2.hello all, just looking for some advice! What are the must do mods on the mk1?
Rear anti roll bar!
Make a hell of a difference without compromising on comfort
Front and rear s must. Changes the front so much with a stronger bar.best and cheapest mod is a big mouth conversion.
Do away with the front number plate and holder etc.![]()

I couldn’t find any when I did it but I’ll try and help a little
What you will need;
Dremmel with plastic cutting tool
Honeycomb mesh (£20 on eBay)
Masking tape to mark the lines that you need to cut
I see some 240 gritt sand paper to help sand down the rough plastic edges
Torx bits to remove the bumper
Cable ties for securing the mesh
Steps;
Remove front bumper, bolts in wheel arches
One in each fog light surround
4? Underneath that secure it to the undertray
Pop the push in clips out on the front grill when the bonnet is open
Make sure to remove fog light connectors
When bumper is off behind the front grill where the number plate, it looked like it was plastic welded I cut through a couple so I could get my hand in and just pulled it off
Now you will need to cut the number plate holder panel off
Put some tape across the parts where you don’t want to cut
Cut the number plate holder off and then you will need to cut around the circumference of the wide mouth hole
Keep test fitting so you can tell how much you need to cut so the honeycomb sits flush against the inside of the bumper
Once you’re happy with the fit it’s time to secure, we left the honey comb over sized inside the bumper so we could secure it with cable ties
I drilled holes on the inside of the bumper as there was raised plastic crosse what I could drill though and thread a cable tie through
Once securely fitted fit bumper back to the car, make sure you reconnect all electrical connectors
I don’t suppose you have a link where I can buy the grill from?

Wish i'd seen the link before paying a bit more for a similar item off someone on Facebook (although it's supposed to be the same design as the original).
Funny that the same Ebay supplier is selling this item at two different prices unless i'm missing something (dimensions are the same)
search eBay for item number:

Not must do but best Mods = Suspension (including bushes ARB, etc.), Remap (after sorting out the air flow through the system from Air filter to exhaust), Uprated Brake pads. A Harness. None of this is cheap though, I expect a lot of us on here have spent more on their car than it cost to buy.
Most fun mod = Dump valve / Cone air filter
Cheapest go faster mod = take out the interior (bit extreme though).
