So it’s day 3 of my seat Leon 1.4fr 150 and it packs a lunch no questions asked. I’m so picky about my fuel it’s ridiculous. I have no idea if the owner before was running low RON cheap Asda petrol before me so Im on tank 2 of BP Ultimate the expensive stuff but I am still thinking of throwing a fuel cleaner in the tank. What do you think of RedEx? Is their anything else like redex out their? I want my engine and fuel lines as clean as possible without going garage or taking things apart. Any other suggestions.

Ps my closest SHELL garage is 24 miles away so that fuel is out the question.

Thanks, Marcus

Have you got a Tesco close to you as the Momentum is not a bad fuel if you cant get V Power.

Honestly don't know but I see a lot of people (myself included) who use it when they are not able to get VPower as it's 99 Ron and also has the cleaners.

Someone I know uses Hydra Diesel Blast and he says it makes his 15 Octavia 1.6TDI more responsive and gets a few MPG better, there's a petrol version I've linked below, I'm going to try it once I'm finished with a few bottles of redex I have left as I bought a few when it was on offer in Tesco and I use when I can't get to a BP station to use their Ultimate petrol, but I think you should give Hydra Petrol Blast a go, not the expensive and don't need to use that much each time.

I will order 500ml on Thursday. Ask your friend if he puts half in a tank or spreads it out over 3/4 tanks or does he put it allllllll in 1 lol

Bit pricey but goes a long way.. Only need 5ml in every 50litre fill up... Did a great job keeping my Toyota and its EGR valve unblocked... So I am assuming its doing good on my petrol leon. Snake oil? Maybe, maybe not.

But before I used this stuff after 15000 miles

And using after 15000 miles.

So I assume its working and have used it ever since..

Edit:
Sorry I thought we were talking about fuel cleaners, I.e. Additives...
But i suppose did fuels, different additives....

But as we're now on fuel types, lol :) , I only use esso, shell, and BP... Primarily shell... Since I use this additive, I don't need to speed the extra on v-power.....

There is also Esso Supreme 97 which I found ran well on an EcoTsi engine...even smoother than V Power 99. Apparently it has lots of cleaning properties too! But Vpower 99 gave me the most mpg (at least according to the trip computer) as I do near identical journeys, so can compare between fuels. Eg...if Esso/Shell 95 gave me 49-52mpg, the V power gave me 55-58 mpg on the same 13 mile journey. Momentum for me personally (actually I have this fuel in my car atm, as I've got 10p off a litre from shopping at Tesco) didn't give me smoothness nor more mpg. I can't comment on the cleaning properties though.

Day 3 and considering a fuel cleaner? Why?

Fuel here is not that bad, rack up several tens of thousands of miles then consider it, even then you'll probably never notice any benefit

There's a few companies popping up now offering engine carbon cleans. That's going to be more beneficial than some fuel additive, a lot more expensive mind. Think one local to me in east Anglia were charging anywhere between 70-100 for a fuel clean.

Gets rid of the carbon deposit build up that happens naturally over time and allows it to run a bit smoother. Not had it done in mine so can't confirm real world benefits.

I used Millers Oils Diesel Power Ecomax in the past with good results when I was running diesels. They definitely had a little more oomph and also were smoother, quieter and used less fuel.

Whilst I cannot comment specifically on petrol additives per se, if I were in your position I would not hesitate to try one (or more) of the Millers Oils petrol additives.

I've just started using Hydra Power Blast. The active ingredient in it was invented in the state's in the 80's and is the one class of chemicals that DOES clean your injectors properly, polyetheramines they're called. My car definitely feels perkier and indicated MPG has gone up 2 or 3.

I just use standard 95 in her 1.4 150 horse Leon, that’s all it asks for so reckon anything else is overkill, just been out for lunch and over 50mpg on approx 60 miles, get it hot and give it some beans, Italian tune up, I do use hers on sport setting, found it’s the setting best for giddy up and economy.

I've been using STP 5in1 in mine. After I'd used some cheaper fuel I found my mpg going the wrong side of 50 on my usual runs. After using that it's been back up to the usual standard. Put it this way my mpg went down roughly 5mpg. Afterwards it's been great again. I put it in twice a year.

Seriously?

I suspect the "super" part of "super unleaded" takes into account that some countries have 91RON unleaded available as 'standard' petrol and "Super" is 95RON, where in the UK 95 is standard and 98 or thereabouts is super. Confusing, ain't it?
