Hi all could eny one help me out as my engine light on my Seat Leon MK3 2.0 tdi fr came on plugd the obd reader in and got this random code P16C7 after searching around I found it was the heater support pump lock, after fitting the new pump and turning the engine light off it came straight back on with the same code P16C7 really frustrating and just want to get to the bottom of this issue eny reply’s would be more than welcome thanks

what code reader are you using?
with a basic obd2 fault code reader the codes don't always relate to the issue.

obdeleven or vcds is what you need

Hi cheers for the that the code reader am using is only a basic one. I have add it on 4 different ones not the ones you have quoted and still coming up with the same code P16C7

It could relate to the "V488 is for the cooling micro-circuit and thus not related to the auxiliary heater which is not fitted to UK models anyway."

"So spoke with a local VAG specialist independent garage. I spoke about the issue and he immediately recognised it. Apparently he sees it frequently on VW Golfs. The V488 unit is apparently very cheaply made and the mech can wear, causing the plastic blade element to foul it’s inner chamber and it then smashes itself. One detecting the lack of rotation apparently the management module locks the pump. Apparently this is a weird translation from the original terminology. It essentially isolates the power supply."

Thanks for the reply the The v488 unit is the pump i replaced. I'm wondering if ecu is locking the pump
