My Leon FR 1.4 TSI is four and half years old with with 52k on the clock. I've heard timing belt replacement intervals of four years or 60k, whichever is sooner. Is this correct? Cheers.

Sorry school boy error I just did a search looking for Timing Belt.

Jeez, my 1.4fr is nowfortunately for me my 1.4iles, and as far as I know, it's not been done.
How much was it to get done please ?
£399 for the timing belt. They do recommend doing water pump at same time, fortunately for me my 1.4 140 ps engine is not driven by timing belt so did not need done.

Would I be right in thinking there is no specific mileage for replacing the timing belt ( for 1.4 petrol ) ?
As long as it is inspected every 30000 miles ?

Don't think that is the case as the belt has to be taken off to inspect to see if it is cracked on the teeth which of course are on the inside of the belt. Might be wrong unless someone knows for definate??

I read daily VW, Skoda, Seat forums from Romania, UK, France, Italy, Germany and Russia. I didn't find until now one single case of broken timing belt. See how to check the belt.

The cam belt on the 1.2 tsi and 1.4 tsi engines is is clearly visible without removing anything. Just flip the starter briefly to bring different sections of the belt into view.

Thanks, but do we know at what mileage the manufacturer recommends to replace?

Just one question:
Who do I trust: the manual made by those who build the car or the dealers? For your correct knowledge and soul peace, try to send an email to SEAT Spain, ask them about this cambelt change and their answer will be the one you should trust. No comment.
( This cambelt change at 5 years or "N" km has been around for more than 10 years, meantime automotive materials have evolved: kevlar, fiber glass...)
