Battery charging

I will need to put my leon 2017 fr 150 on trickle charge , the positive goes on battery but should the negative be connected where the black ĺead on the bulk head is behind battery , cheers

Yes, connect to the earth point rather than the battery earth.

In all honesty if you are using a CTEK charger which is ‘spark free’ you can connect directly to the battery, they only tell you to connect to an earth point for approval reasons.

Yes I am using a ctek charger , but will use earth terminal behind battery , thanks for the reply .

My Optimate charger has a permanent connector attached to the Cupra battery, with a lead that the charger just plugs into when required, Do the CTEK ones not supply that also?

Yes, my CTEK 5 has one supplied but I don't use it.

The cetek does have the leads , but I only need to put it on charge while we are on lock down , cheers.

Same here, kept in a safe place even although my CTEK "lives" connected to my S4 90% of the year.
