My instrument cluster is cracked bottom right hand corner.

This happened on the hottest day of the year last year, came out of work and boom nice crack on the dials. Seat do not want a bar of it, it is not a warranty issue.

how can i fix this could i buy a cheap set on ebay and change the plastic fascia’s over or would a whole cluster just plug an play?

thanks

Unfortunately the front cover is not changable. Is your car Cupra or FR? I have clusters.

Mine's cracked in exactly the same place... Doesn't impinge on the dials though, so just ignored it. Only noticed after I bought the car so kicked myself. It's an expensive and technical job then?

Yes mine cracked last year on the hottest day of the year. Phoned seat to inform them that day. Yet when i turned up to show them still had some little punk tell me i was lying and it was from an impact and not covered under warranty.

my heater controls the edge of the plastic on that has also half chipped / cracked off. These both happened around 5k miles

I'm finding Seat dealers to be poor. Almost as bad as Ford. So frustrating.

There are things wrong with my car but getting them to accept it is like pulling teeth with pliers. And now coronavirus means I have next to no chance as you can't show mechanics whilst they won't get in the car with you.

Every dealer is the same to be fair. Deny till they die is what they are all about.

everytime i deal with garages they just piss me off. Even buying a car is a chore as it’s all smoke and mirrors from them. They make you feel as if you are stealing from them when in fact they are the theifs.

While a new housing is not available as a spare part, is it not possible to swop over the "contents" of your cluster with that in a used but looking okay one, that would solve the immob and CP issues.

Thats what i thought?

surely the front plastic lense can come off be it with a knife if it is glued or the guts can be transplanted

There's a chap on the MK3 Leon page on Facebook called Kieran Walkington who's selling his instrument cluster from his Cupra.

Slightly off topic, but I've found if you go in armed with research, the odd white lie about valuations on your car, and are up front about your target cost of changeover if you're part exchanging, they usually give way. It's informed customers that her the most out of them!

Part ex and purchase price combined, I got over well over £2k of movement from them.

Well i put a deposit on the phone when in lockdown with the regional manager and he said he had done lots of terminations of lease and said there would be no cost. Now all of a sudden there is a £1300 shortfall. They phoned me before but i said i would phone back tomorrow with an answer. I am pretty certain the answer is going to be no from my end.

i mean i don’t need the new car i can make do with this jalopy until the lease run’s out i just fancied an auto as my missus cannot manage a manual so was more for her benefit. She will just have to wait.

Sorry but that's not my experience. I've had dealers fix faults under warrantee that I hadn't even reported. This has happened with both SEAT (rear light cluster) and Toyota (clutch and door lock). In neither case had I bought the car from the dealer concerned.
