Hello,

I just got 2 sets of H&R spacers that I had shipped all the way to Egypt, 8mm for the fronts and 10mm for the back. The front ones fit perfectly, however, the ones on the rear didnt. They don't sit flush for some reason I can't understand. Their part number is 2055573b, so as far as I can tell they are the correct ones. Not sure what I'm missing here, but can't figure out why they don't sit flush.

I attached pics of the spacer seated, along with a pic of the hub and the inside of the spacer. Would appreciate the help guys.

Thanks in advance.

Previously I ordered 15mm for the front and 10mm for the back. 15mm as it happened was too much for the front so I moved the 10mm to the front and the rear is stock.

However the 10mm at the rear fitted fine, only different is mine where black.

It may help to know, is your car a hatch or an estate and if an estate is it 4WD. I know I had to order a very specific set of 10mm to fit the rear 4WD.

Hey Damo,

I was the referring to the spacer sitting flush with the hub, but there's a couple of millimeters gap. I attached the ones on the front so you can tell the difference.

I wasn't aware that there are different types, there doesn't seem to be any indication to that in the product description. Anyhow, mine is a 4dr non Cupra Leon. I believe you call it an SE in the UK?

Yes I know exactly what you’re talking about, but if I wanted 10mm spacers on the rear of mine I had to order a specific set as they would it fit otherwise due to the shape of the hub. So it maybe that either you’ve not ordered the same ones I did so they won’t fit, or the hatchback FWD has a different hub to the 4WD.

I’m pretty sure it was H&R’s own site that stated which type of rear spacer was needed.

I agree with the OP, I've never used spacers, but I would not have expected there to be gap between them and the hub face, or find that there is a deliberate step on the rear face but only at the centre of the hub.

Does the H&R website have any drawings of these spacers, if it does then they might explain why there is that "step" on the rear face.

Can you post a link? I can't find Seat on their website, only VW.

Use Mk7 Golf GTi, I used Golf R Estate.
I found 4 different types of 10mm spacers for the GTI. Interesting to the say the least...

You need to use minimum 12mm spacers on the rear as the hub lip is wider.

10 mm won’t fit on the rear
Are you sure of this? I could've sworn I saw some users here with 10mms on the rear.

Some guys have had to remove the rear hub cap to make the spacers fit.
I thought of that... Isn't that cap what you would refer to as a dust cover? If so then how can I remove it? Is it OK to drive without one?

Just so you guys are aware of my situation, since they have been shipped all the way to Cairo, returning/exchanging them isn't an option. Shipping again would cost the equivalent of another brand new set of spacers. So unless there is some tip or trick to make them fit I will have to lathe machine it to fit or something.

It looks like this ridge is catching the existing centering flange:

You'd need to machine this small lip off.
Those were my initial thoughts too. But I believe if the dust cap would go off as @marlop suggested then it should slide right in. My question here, would machining it upset the balance or spacer structure somehow? I'm afraid of vibrations or even worse if it snaps or something.

Yeah i think 12mm is the lowest you can go but even at 12mm i have seen them shear at the step of where they go on the hub as the metal is that thin, 15mm on the rear to be safe is best practice.

I've never worked on a hub before. How is the cap removed? Do I just pry it off or is there some sort of process to remove it?
Workshop manuals are here:

You’ll want the suspension, axles, running gear document.

Need to remove the brake disk to remove the grease cap like this:

Looks simple enough... Thanks mate! I'll give it a try now and will let you guys know how it goes.

So, removing the dust cap did work, however, I couldnt put it back on the spacer. The inner diameter is just too small. I decided to go ahead and machine it to fit but I ended up ruining it :) i got a hairline crack now between the lip and the actual spacer.

It's a bit unfortunate, but well, it is what it is. Anyhow, so I decided to order a new pair, a 12mm now to ensure it clears the hub as you guys mentioned. I see two parts on the H&R website with identical specs. Can't figure out what the extra "SW" stands for. Guys who got a pair of 12mms, which of the two did you get?
