I have a Seat Leon FR First Edition Hybrid and I love it. I have two questions:

Rain Sensing Wipers - what position does the wiper handle need to be for these to kick in automatically?

AirCon - The Seat Connect app appears determined to get the AirCon on in the air at each start up. I live in the UK where AirCon is rarely needed and there are times when I just want NOTHING ON - No AirCon or Heating. I've switched it off repetitively but still on it comes - the App gives no 'OFF' option - Any ideas?

Many thanks for any help?

Can I be cheeky and add another question?

Phone Connection - the phone used to pop up on the third tile of the Infotainment Panel as ' First Name+Second Name Phone Connected' which with a tap took you to phone options, (very useful) now for reasons unknown it lists the Last Missed Call and does nothing? (not very useful) Is this a setting on the phone or the car?

Many thanks for any help?

From the off position on the wiper stalk, one click up, you can change the sensitivity with the little switch on top of the stalk.

From the manual

On the phone section on the infotainment home screen, try swiping up or down, it should change the content of the section. You can do it with all of the sections as well.

As the rain sensor bit has been covered, I will leave that but Air con is a must even in the uk as its not there just to cool things but it also dries the air so when you have a damp day and a lot of condensation the air con will clear this much quicker, so just leave it on and adjust the temp (suggest something like 20) is a good start

I have a VW and the air con is permanently switched on for the reasons you outlined in your post above. I switched it on the day I collected the car when it was new and it’ll stay on until I eventually sell it.

Also on the aircon then the car defaults to recirculated air, to reduce fuel consumption, which needs to be constantly dried.

You can get the infotainment system to turn the whole aircon off, as I've had one instance when it then refused to turn it back on until I reset the whole system, but that option includes the fan - so you will quickly run out of oxygen and die.

Thanks, I understand that sometimes it is useful, but my grip is the lack of ability to switch it off ever. I would like to know that I have the capacity to go to the car and if I chose NOT to have the AirCon on. Are you saying there is no way to actually switch this OFF?

Thank you very much. On my wiper control I have no rocker switch to switch auto-wipers on or off. Does anyone with a Seat Leon FR First Edition have the same - is it automatic in INT (intermittent)?

On the other issue - Phone swiping up/down just gets 'No Entries' - so still stuck with missed calls I'm afraid. Any ideas?

Thanks - my issue is not the AirCon itself, it is my lack of understanding on how to use it / control it - yes it is useful sometimes, but sometimes AirCon / Heating is not required and I wish to understand how to switch it OFF. Any ideas?

On my first edition, INT is automatic (1 click up)

Does your wiper stalk not look like the one in the manual?

I will check the phone one next time im in the car

My wiper stalk does not have the '0' '1' rocker switch as illustrated. I'm guessing that 'INT' might be the automatic setting, but when I was last in rain nothing much happened. Any help with the phone gratefully received.

At the end of the stalk that's a button for the trip computer for cars without the digital dash/steering wheel controls, as explained here in the manual

The 0 1 is actually showing the movement or the whole stalk. The same you push it down once to wipe, you click it up once into the INT position for auto

Another reason to keep the air on on is to save yourself the expense of a new compressor. The seals are lubricated by the refrigerant. Leaving it off for extended periods means those seals dry out and effectively seize to the shaft. On startup the motor turns, but the shaft doesn’t, leading to drive failure and the need for a new compressor. Personally it’s sunroofs that are a waste in the UK, A/C is always useful whatever the weather. It gets terribly stuffy very quickly (slippery cars are poor at ran-air effects) when its turned off, something that only happens at MOT time, or other garage visits, oh, and when I had an immobiliser fitted.

Do we understand each other well? You have a hybrid, so I have the impression that you mean parking AirCon and parking heating, and everyone in the topic relates to AirCon while driving. I'm right?

Not sure of the difference, but my issue is when I unlock the car and get into it, before I start it the AirCon is on and I want to know how to switch it off so it does not come on automatically.

Thank you - you make very legitimate points, but I would like to understand how to switch it off rather that justify keeping it on as I don't understand how to switch it off.

Like I thought, you're talking about parking AirCon (in user manual: stationary air conditioning).

Go to Battery Manager > Options > [uncheck] When unlocking the vehicle

I think I've cracked the automatic wipers - yes it seems one position up and the rain-drop top switch is what alters the sensitivity of the sensor. One rain drop and it literally has to be hammering down before they kick in, but put it on 2 or 3 then they seem to work fine.

Thought it was sorted but no - I'm driving along with rain sensor in Position-1 and it rains and I wait and bugger all happens - they don't work. So it will eventually be back to the garage I'm guessing.
