wraparound interior lighting

Sorry for jumping on this older thread but I took delivery of and Mk4 Leon Sport Evo on Monday 18th july, I have the wrap around lights but they do not come on when the iginition is on. I managed to get them to show briefly when stationary so I know they are there but the next time I drove the car they're off again. All the brightness is up to max..am I missing something in the settings? Didn't appear to be any obvious answer in the thread.
 
I don't have wraparound lighting fitted but doesn't ambient light areas only come on when the light sensor detects darkness (and) opening doors, driving with lights on? Did on both my FR's.
 
The wraparound light now comes on when I open the door with ignition off seemingly. Then goes off when I turn the ignition on or start the engine. If that's what it's suppose to do it seems pointless as you only have the door open for a second or two.

I had the previous mk3 fr sport and the internal ambient lights were on when driving which I assumed would be thr same on the mk4.

Seems a bit confusing
 
Given that they are lights, drive in the dark is the obvious answer
