I'm about to order a V1 Formentor. I'm really struggling with the colour. I'm leaning towards black.

I have a Leon Cupra 290 now in the Tech Grey. I'm keen on a change.

Do they do the Dark Camouflage on the V1 - Doesn't seem to be an option.

Any pics of current cars/colours would be good as the pics on the website aren't a true reflection and auto traders are a bit mixed resolution.

Thanks,

Always dangerous to ask for opinions on colour choice as you’re likely to get a multitude of different responses that’ll confuse you even more! ?

The Formentor does look good in black. However………..black is a labour of love to keep it looking good, and will only look clean just after washing. Also;
  • if you don’t use a safe wash technique (two or three bucket method, long pile wash mitt and plush drying towels)
or
  • if you entrust your car washing to one of the many hand wash places or let the Seat dealer do the free complementary service wash (a.k.a. the scratch and swirl treatment ?) when it’s back at the dealership for servicing, warranty or repair work
then it’ll quite quickly show swirl marks.

These days when I choose a car colour, I consider the following;
  • What are the best colours to ‘hide’ swirl marks if you don’t use a safe wash method? (IMHO; white and lighter metallic colours).
  • Which colours are easiest / most difficult to get an accurate colour match on if you’re unfortunate enough to need paintwork repairs? (again, IMHO - easiest; white, most difficult; silver and lighter metallics, solid reds).
  • Which colour is easiest to carry out DIY repairs to stone chips So you’re less likely to see them? (white)
Based on the above, it may not come as a surprise that my current car is white ?.

Back to your original question and setting aside the above considerations, I really like the Formentor (in order of colour preference) in Desire Red, Magnetic Tech Grey or Nevada White.

Thanks for the detailed response. And yea agree on both points. Colour being a personnel choice and the washing aspect!

My last two cars were tech grey and white, hence at bottom of my list but not ruled out.

I guess I'm hoping more for some pics of peoples current cars - unless there is a thread dedicated to this?

There's a media gallery which might help you. I'm pathetic with tech so can't attach a link unfortunately!

I’ve ordered tech grey even though alot of Formentors seem to be that colour. I think it suits the car but that’s just my opinion.. My current Leon is monsoon grey so was tempted to go with a different colour and go with asphalt blue. There was a cupra Leon in the dealer that colour it did look smart. It looks black from some angles. Wasn’t sure how it would look with the grey wheel arches.

I'm now contemplating paying a bit more for the Graphene Grey. Just seen a V2 one in supermarket car park in that colour with the blue nappa leather interior and it looked premium :drool:

Again I'm biased, last 2 cars been grey, not bothered for formentor grey as its got a blue tint in certain lights, so it's neither grey or blue, confusing colour. Sorry but I think the blue leather, especially on dash looks tacky... Remember, always bet on black?
