Hi can you use Waze sat nav on the 12” screen, if so is vis a wired connection or wireless?

Works just fine wireless for me with Apple Carplay. Haven’t tried it with cable but I assume it works as well.

Bit of a thread revival!

I use Waze in my Formentor, find the traffic, speed camera and routing a bit better (well, a lot better) than the inbuilt system.

But it only displays on the dashboard display, not in the centre of the instrument panel - has anyone seen it do so, made it do so or had an update so it does?

I’m sure a while ago I saw Google SatNav display on both screens but since Google SatNav became a bit like ‘Waze Light’ in green with less features (no GPS speed or speed limit) as Google own Waze, it’s not done it either.

I miss motorway exit lanes; waze can't do it and the Cupra system does something weird with an animation that makes no sense. Maybe I'll have to pay for TomTom GO. Not sure what the full subscription is like on either.
Ford system was amazing at showing exits and it was completely free. /Rant

Only inbuilt Sat Nav appears on dashboard... Carplay can't do that screen.. I use inbuilt for that reason alone but defo not as accurate as Waze for traffic and stuff and some routing is weird.. but most of the time ok..

what Do you want for motorway exits? To tell you which lane to be in? The Cupra one does for me, agreed Waze tells you when to turn left only.

As I said above ‘old’ Google SatNav in CarPlay did appear in the instrument panel centre display with the highlighted route, it can’t have been the inbuilt system running simultaneously as using a second SatNav for routing cancels the routing on the first. I remember thinking when I first got the car if i could run two satnavs to see if they agreed on the route!

The issue for me is that the message will say keep right to then say keep left and exit. I think it does this because it wants to keep you in the right lane when you leave the junction.

Problem is you have to be in the left lane every time it says keep right just in case you need to get off. Anyway to change this?

Yes I do need to correct myself, the CUPRA system does indeed display lane exits... on the dashboard. They are absolutely tiny I might add and only show for seconds. I was looking for a more obvious graphical presentation on the infotainment for motorway exits.

What it likes to do (for some reason) is zoom all the way in and show me where I am on the road - so I loose all my bearings on where the exit is, or where the road will bring me to.

I'm not sure what the purpose of the CUPRA design is; except to show off it's 3D animation ability.

What I gather from the zooming in suddenly, seems to indicate action may (or may not be) required from the driver - which is just convoluted information.

The lane exit hints on the dashboard show about 100 yards before the exit which is really not enough time.

For some perspective on where I'm coming from, on Ford Sync 3 half the display would show a skeuomorphic UK motorway sign with the towns, amount of road lanes, and arrows on the road lanes of which lanes to be in, about a mile away from the exit. Honda satnav does this too. I'm just surprised CUPRA is SO different. It's really too minimalist and fixated on keeping the thin dark / orange theme.

The UK road signs are perfectly designed for maximum legibility and info; displaying what the eye sees outside in the real world, on the infotainment would be perfectly fine, there's really no need to stylise it with the brand and make it less discernible.

To be honest I'm a bit lost with the problem you're describing.

For the motorway exit it tells me to turn left, and I turn left I'm not sure what you mean by being told to stay in the right lane. One thing I have noticed is that it says to go straight on for, say '20 miles' and then (1 or 2 miles away?) it suddenly says 'turn left in 2 miles' rather than (on other systems) it might say 'turn left in 22 miles' so you have a countdown to the junction.

On the traffic junctions (e.g. roundabouts) where it zooms in, I don't have a problem generally although I have usually understood which exit I need and watch the road / traffic rather than look at the display to tell me when to take the exit. If I am unsure a quick glance at the zoomed in view is enough to tell when to take the exit.

However as above, I usually use Waze these days, but having the display in the intrument panel as well would be good rather than the inbuilt system (with no routing).

No worries, it's really the sort of thing I need to try film and study rather than describe in text. My testing opportunity is so limited, maybe twice a fortnight.

I understand the zoom for roundabouts - that's ideal and works well - so just imagine that, but on motorways where the map is zooming in while traveling 60mph+ lol.

Waze is so-far the only Android satnav alternative (that isn't Google maps) that just works. It has occasionally decided not to draw the map but it can work offline with the speed camera warnings working all the time when not on-guidance. I just wish CUPRA satnav had the same passive warnings, but nether does Google maps.

Yes, I like the way Waze works offline (but when selected in the CarPlay window) to give warnings, hazards, average speed zones, speed cameras, etc.
