Model Year 23/24 Formentor Orange Wire

Hello,

Went to look at a formentor today and noticed a orange wire in the passenger footwell out of the trim.

I'm guessing this is EV with it being orange but any advise would be helpful.

It's put me off for now as I'm thinking this could indicate someone has had trim off and some undisclosed work has taken place. But possibly I am overreacting.

I obviously don't want to buy a car where someone has been messing and voided the warranty.

The HV cables are usually not located inside. This should be visible on the rescue card. It may be a fiber optic cable.

It won't be a HV cable, sometimes the looms are not fitted as intended at the factory and it could have possibly just dropped a little. I wouldn't worry about it.

Where was the location of the cable?

It matches the rescue cards location, but it's hard to tell from the pictures if the cables are inside or outside on the rescue card.

Looks like it could be high voltage component, because one cable seems to run more central to steering wheel and the other seems to come back where I can see this one.

My understanding was that in HV vehicles the wires that are orange are always the orange ones this is what worried me.

The location is passenger side on floor, the trim has a gap and that is popping through, just before turns to 45 degree angle.

It's not a HV cable. They all run on the outside of the vehicle and have an orange fabric like tape over them. They are very distinctive.

In that location it's more than likely a 12v live, possibly from the battery in the boot to the fuse board behind the glovebox. There is a major electrical junction unit under the N/S sill trim where lots of wire meet.

That would make sense, I've seen the cable running down the middle underneath just not sure from the picture if they came back in the car at any point.

The 12v would make sense, now I need to decide if being able to fit my fingures under the trim indicates someone has taken it off.

I've had a bad experience with last formentor, had it not long and HV battery went so trying to be more careful this time.
