Am I being impatient, or is it looking unlikely that the 2.0 TSI 265PS engine is going to appear in the Leon?

It's available in the CUPRA Formentor, CUPRA Terramar, SKODA Octavia VRS and Golf GTI.
Before the release of the engine in any CUPRA model, I was not expecting it to appear at all due to the power output being so close to the 1.5 e-hybrid 272PS.
However as it's now in the Formentor and Terramar, I can't work out why not the Leon?

No prizes for guessing which CUPRA and engine I've been patiently waiting for!!

I messaged CUPRA Customer Services, the request got assigned to a sales representative at CUPRA Slough and heard nothing since (that was a number of weeks ago). Tried phoning a couple of CUPRA dealers last week, with a "promised call back" - to be fair, no car to sell so not in dealers interest to chase.

Reason for wanting the 2.0 TSI 265PS vs 300PS is the assumed lower road tax (RRP under £40K?), and cheaper insurance.
If it starts at £40K, I'll likely have a mid-life crisis and go for the 300PS or jump ship to the Golf GTI and save some money.
Leon is slightly roomier in the back, which is why I'm leaning towards the Leon :)
Not a good response. If we hear anything we'll put it up on the site when engines are announced.

I think they will bring out the 265 version for the Leon but perhaps not for another 6 or 12 months... I remember the 245ps version of the old model was introduced a while after the 300ps.

I doubt it'll be under 40k though. The base gti without metallic paint is now 25 quid over 40k list on their website and that's with ugly 18in wheels and no DCC.

The octavia vrs has now jumped up to £39k so if you add no options that could sneak under the tax threshold. That's if you can live without adaptive dampers because they are £1200 for some reason. So would more or less even out with golf but it's a bigger car if that's a plus for you.

There's some big savings on list on Leon's and Formentor VZ cars by the looks of it at the minute. Just a shame that doesn't effect the lux car tax though.

Looks like you might have to just go for a 300! May as well go all out for the vz3 with cup seats and all the options if there's one at a discount. That would be the best value for money overall.

I don't think they will release the 265 for Leon. IMO it's about the average CO2 emission in the range, and they do not want to bump it for no reason.

Which ofc is a shame, as the engine is awesome and I really enjoy its previous spec in my Leon "GTI Variant".

But it wasn't a popular choice.

It would be a shame. I've got a 245, it's a great car. Many reviews at the time favoured it over the 300 as the smaller turbo would actually make the car more responsive. It meant it would spool up quicker.

I think they have had to address that issue in the new spec 300 model so there's not as much turbo lag. Same in the new gti clubsport / golf r / s3

As the 245ps engine never appeared, 300ps it is then! I'm 90% sure I know what I want:
CUPRA Leon VZ2 in Magnetic Tech Grey if I'm placing a factory order - still looking at the used 1yr old market if discounted enough to tempt me away from new.

That 10% uncertainty is the VZ3 seats @Syphon I sat in a VZ3 hoping to fall in love with them but couldn't seem to get my shoulders comfortable.
2 different dealerships, showroom car so I didn't have chance to play around with the settings and/or test drive.
Has anyone else noticed that with the VZ3 seats?
Maybe I need to take one out for a test drive and play around with the seat configuration. No issues with either the VZ1 or VZ2 seats.

Can anyone help with the following:
1. Sennheiser IMMERSIVE sound system - is it worth the £600 upgrade over stock? I mainly listen to Heavy Metal when driving solo if that helps!
2. Current lead time for factory orders: a) stock, b) adding the above upgrade.

If I end up placing a factory order, I want a 26reg as I've delayed this long enough and trying to work out when the earliest date will be to place the order?
I'll be making it clear that it has to be 26reg and will be a deal breaker if it gets registered as a 75reg!

I would always go for a sound system upgrade if one is available.. especially if you plan to keep the car a long time..

25 reg just came out this month so for a factory order I would guess you would have to order around mid / late January for a 26 plate in march. You'd be best asking the dealer closer to the time for lead times if a 26 reg is a must.

It did take me a while to get the seats just right and stored as there are so many possible combinations. Didn't have any issues with the shoulders though.

The sound system is ace and I listen to a mix of music including the Prodigy quite a lot. Haven't done a back to back comparison but I wasn't going to skimp on spec on this one hence the VZ3.
