Hiya,

The last days it has been raining quite a bit here in the Netherlands. All of a sudden I get this message (during driving) that the tailgate is open. But the message doesn't stay on screen, it shows and dissappears every few seconds. At the same time the interior lights switch on and off...After a while, the message will stay on screen, showing a red tailgate.

I found out that when behaviour occurs, the rear light cluster (only the ones on the tailgate) start blinking. I also found out that in this situation the reverse light is not working. Mind you, the boot latch is working as it should. I can open & shut the bootlid without any issue. No faults on the Autel or Torque Pro.

Also, it's intermittent. Yesterday I took if for a half hour drive, nothing happended. It was dry though...

-Display shows red "open" tailgate
-Interior lights switch on/off together with the error message appearing/dissappearing
-Boot latch works normally
-Rear light cluster (only the ones on the tailgate) blink if the error message appears/dissappears
-Reverse light does not work with error message
-Intermittent, seems related to (a lot of) rain
-Autel Maxipro shows no errors

I suspect something with earth wire or water ingress somewhere

Does this sound familiair to someone with an ST?

Boot light is LED, it was already in there when I bought it. Looks like a closed unit, not the usual ones where you can swap it out with a festoon unit.

Should I disconnect it for good measure?

Looks a bit like this

There used to be an issue with the diode back feeding the circuit causing the same issue you are experiencing. It might be worth disconnecting it to test.

You could swap it with the glovebox light, if they're the same?

If that has no impact on the complaint, and given it seems to happen during rain, it could be water in connector on the tailgate?

The solder joint on the microswitch on the circuit board will be broken. Known company problems
