Air vent knob btoken

Hi
Just noticed air vent know on central vents below screen is missing. Probably
Bly off for a while as hidden by left hand when driving. Don't remember breaking it. Is there an issue with these popping off.
Ca t find front part but vent piece left.
does whole unit need replaced ?
Read old posts about it being a problem

In the early days people were breaking the air vents fins by vigorous cleaning. May the plastic is just brittle. You probably need those Erwin manuals and register as a sole trader + a trusty parts catalogue to look at if you intend DIY.

Might be this area of the catalogue. Others may have better links:

I am not aware of anyone breaking the plastic. Seems odd that it would just ping off. Was hoping to refix but only have the fin control part and guess the missing knob in a vacuum somewhere !!

Yes it was the detailing guys that like to polish and scrub their cars that were breaking the air veins early on. If the rest of the assembly is made in the same plastic as those, quite believable they would snap as well. Rough treatment in that area leads to broken parts. Could be it's made of that plastic that deteriorates fast or in your case got a knock, it split the pins or clips that held it and fell off. Pass of what assembly you buy to repair it yourself. Probably sold as those infamous parts catalogues. Parts department may be able to assist if DIY and those Erwin manuals.
