Hi everyone,

I recently bought a 2023 Cupra Formentor 1.5 TSI with a panoramic sunroof (left-hand drive, french model). I'm experiencing some annoying cracking and creaking noises from the panoramic roof, especially at the rear right side (definitely coming from the fixed panel area). It happens whether the roof is open or closed, and it’s most noticeable on rough roads or during tight maneuvers when the car flexes.

I’m wondering if anyone else has had this issue or if you might have some advice on what could be causing it, maybe a rail or a seal problem?

The car is still under extended warranty but I want advice before I call them

Thanks in advance

If its the seal Wet Suit Gel Lubricant or Gummi Pflege may be worth a try.

Not sure it's coming from the seal, it sound like it's inside, maybe a rail for the sunshade or support for rear panel but I can't reproduce the sound by moving part around ...

I have something similar. Basically it's a sound that is almost always present, every time the car flexes, whether due to road condition or even on slight brake or acceleration. Have no an idea where the sound is coming from 😕

Due to the weather two days ago I opened the sunroof on my Formentor for the first time this year and as it opened it creaks, clunks and squeaks, the courtesy lights came on then the sunroof refused to move I had to use the key outside to close it, I was under the impression Cupras were supposed to be a premium brand, obviously not - I have had Land Rovers that were better quality than this!

Sadly VAG stuff is renowned for electrical gremlins. There is some circumstantial evidence that the wiring on the Spanish built VAG stuff is worse than VW/Skoda, but I've yet to see any conclusive supportive evidence of such.
