I know this has been discussed and I know it’s not a simple retrofit if going the rgb route but I’d like to just have them light up any colour at this stage! If even possible the original red channel!

Got a 2016 seat Leon FR and fitted a full 2019 cupra interior. Have the seats retrofitted and the heating working and electrics. I also have doorcards from the cupra to fit. The original doorcards have ambient lighting (only red channel). The cupra doorcards came from a lux and have 3 wires going to the strips connectors but 4 pin connectors. My own have 3 pin connectors with 3 wires but I think the cupra probably had rgb. Everything connects up perfectly but the lights don’t work.

I want to make them work (I know I won’t get rgb I just want them lit up) I understand these rgb strips use linbus for control but can these just be lighted up with one channel?

If this isn’t possible can anyone recommmed an aftermarket solution that fits nicely?

Cheers!

My car has ambient lighting from the factory but only the red channel. Is there different coding for the facelift ambient lighting?

Yea the old ones are only the 3 pin connecter with just red. Can I make the newer ones with the 4 pin connector work? Even just one channel?
Only Red is No RGB. Or have The old Led 3 Pin Connection

The new lights are LIN..

Install a facelift BCM, facelift diagnostic gateway and if you don’t already have it - MIB2
Thanks for getting back to me. Damn. Is there any good retrofit kits to install aftermarket ones? The car has MIB2 etc but cannot see it being economical to retrofit a new BCM and Canbus unit? Did I also read that the prefacelift headlights also need changed to facelift ones so that they’ll work with the newer modules?

Prefacelift headlights can work with facelift BCM :)
Facelift headlights don't work with prefacelift BCM

Ah good to get speaking to someone that knows! So I’d need a facelift BCM and Canbus unit. I take it these would also need coded and programmed with ODIS? I have ODIS but just not at the level yet lol. I work predominantly with PD based stuff which is much simpler lol. Oh and regards the MIB2 it’s the radio with the two knobs and CarPlay not the newer larger screen unit with one knob.

MIB2 is available with a 6.5" display and an 8" display. MIB1 is 5.8"

Yes both require ODIS

Yep it’s the 6.5 inch one. The BCM I found is a nightmare to access on the Leons as I had it out for wiring the seats! Probably not going to be economical to replace and program two units to get those lights working unless I could get prefacelift matching front doorcards?

Just replace the light emitters with the prefacelift ones, they’re a direct fit

Oh they hard to remove? I did look at it and it appeared they were plastic welded into the door. But if they could be removed I would do that instead. Didn’t want to be too forceful and start wrecking things lol!

Quick question does the tube completely remove from the light or does the light need to be split open?

Ground - Brown
Good stuff. As a safety I’ve decrimped the linbus cables from all the connections described below (blue/purple). In my case of using the cupra doorcard light loom instead of the FR door loom the red/white on the cupra card will be blue/green, the cupra blue/purple will be the white, and brown is brown the ground. Was looking at wiring diagrams cross comparing between both cards. As I said I removed the extra Linbus blue/purple going to the blue 32 pin connector and the small 2 pin black connector on the cupra card (these cables are not on my factory card. Hopefully that makes sense it’s does in my head😅.
