CUPRA has officially opened UK order books for the new Formentor VZ5, bringing the five-cylinder range-topper a step closer to British roads.



Available to order now, the VZ5 sits at the very top of the Formentor line-up and remains the most powerful version of CUPRA’s best-selling crossover. It also marks the return of the much-loved five-cylinder engine, something that has helped make the VZ5 one of the most talked-about versions of the Formentor since it was first announced.



The five-cylinder headline act



At the heart of the new Formentor VZ5 is a 2.5-litre TSI five-cylinder engine producing 390PS, sent through a seven-speed DSG gearbox and CUPRA’s four-wheel-drive system.



CUPRA says the VZ5 also benefits from integrated torque splitter technology, helping deliver power more precisely across all four wheels. As you would expect, this is the most performance-focused Formentor in the range and the one aimed squarely at buyers who want the full-fat version.

Coincidentally, I watched a good review this afternoon...


Living with a TVS tuned DQ500, it's really evident how slow the OEM shift speeds are watching the launch control on the VZ5.

Not knocking it, just remarking on how they've programmed it to be as liveable as possible, almost counterintuitive to the advantages of a DSG. There are still smart things to the OEM tuning, especially 1st gear clutch programming and coasting that are nice but always compromised in some way.

Still consider the VZ5 to be an endgame vehicle and would like to afford it.
