  • Hey Guest👍👎 We're looking for reviews of your local CUPRA or SEAT Dealership - it's quick and easy to do: Leave a review now
Sounds very similar and glad you're hopefully getting it sorted. My local dealer couldn't get me in till November. The lease company told me i could get in on the 15th at another dealer 30 mins away. Call them up first thing in the morning and they couldn't do it till the 22nd October. So i'm booked in for then.

Seat support just kept telling me that the dealer hadn't put it in the system, which they were saying they have. I really think it's a comms issue where the car isn't communicating to their servers hence the SOS issue. A couple of times today, the car somehow got into an icognito mode and i got a few error warnings up on the dashboard. It clears when logging in as a local user.

We'll see what happens eh! What's frustrating is it took them weeks to admit there is an issue and find out myself from here and elsewhere what the issue seems to be. The garage i'm booked into kind of knew straight away, they need the day and might be overnight if they need parts. How have they allowed it to get past quality control i don't know.
I hope we get the things done. Doesn’t feel good when you have the feeling that no one really knows where the problem is..

I have the same situation. Raval launch edition delivered on Friday on a personal lease, replacing my Born V3 which had been an absolute joy to drive. Flashing SoS red light from the start. No globe in the start screen on the infotainment system. Can't register the vehicle in my Cupra app, can only use my charger as a dumb charge to 100% etc. Dealer says they've done everything required. Digital support unhelpful other than to tell me to take it in to a service centre. They don't seem to acknowledge that taking a brand new car into a dealership for attention might not be the customer experience you're looking for and might also be very inconvenient. Not happy and considering rejecting the vehicle. Other than that, it's a lovely car!

Maybe dumb suggestion but have you tried to reboot the infotainment, I see others commenting that the dealers might recommend rebooting the infotainment by pressing the display on/off button for 30 seconds that often clears up a bunch of infotainment related issues (such as the display going blank), probably not when it appears like there's no connectivity and such but I guess it's worth a try.

When I collected my car from Cupra Coventry they spent about 20 minutes with me going through an online setup sequence involving the entry of data to the car, to the MyCupra app and on their sales laptop. The car didn't leave the showroom until everything was fully connected and communicating. If your dealer did not do that then they failed you.

I'd be tempted to visit or contact the dealer and insist on talking to the the sales manager or general manager. Inform him that you intend to reject the vehicle and give a very poor review on the customer questionnaire that Cupra will send you within a few days of handover. Anything less than 5 stars on that review is considered a failure by VAG. If they still don't want to play ball, google "Cupra customer complaints UK" for contact info.

You don't tend to get a handover with a lease vehicle. It's delivered to your chosen address and you're handed the keys, that's been the case with at least two vehicles mentioned on here recently where there has been an issue after delivery.

Yes done all that personally and re installed the app etc which is the other suggestion.

I feel that the flashing SOS light is an indicator that the car isn't connected to their services/servers and for me hope a reinstall of the software at a service centre will sort it, otherwise it's a fault with the hardware in the car.

That seems to be a bit of problem if you dont get the handover correctly and then the aftercare on lease deliveries. Being sold like white goods.

OK, I missed that it was a lease.

So the principle is that a lease vehicle is delivered and handed over in an unusable state such that the lessee has to make arrangements with someone else (eg a service agent) to convert the vehicle to a usable state? That doesn't seem to make a lot of sense for a personal lease. Unless I'm missing something.
Is a vehicle in that state "of merchantable quality" in terms of the UK Sales Act?

It'll be interesting to see how this pans out in future. Is anybody else waiting for a similar lease vehicle delivery and are you happy with what you're seeing?

Well with those two UK Seat / Cupra super stores they were experimenting with in retail areas they were prepped to be driven off, then you made your own arrangement with your local dealer to service it and warranty repair. But they were prepped and you got the training as per the handover. This was pre connected cars which have a new level of complexity in registration to the mothership. The West London one had its downstairs pod with bright lights to inspect the paint work, traininng, doors went back and off you went though the multistory car park out of the retail park. On your own.

Personally I can't see a trailer delivery to the home is going to cut it. The driver isnt going to provide the training and take you through the systems is he ?. More of an ICE thing.

The lack of handover on a lease vehicle and there being problems like the red SOS light aren't necessarily related. The lack of quality control at the dealer before the vehicle being released is the underlying issue.

Whilst it's not an ideal situation and a stain on the new car experience, the closest franchised dealer should be willing to accept the vehicle for warranty repairs without any quibble.
