I have now been making a few fuel line and sort of got the hang of of it. It seams easy but it's fidderly too.
So mark out your pipe and cut with either a grinder or big metal cutters
Put tape areound befor you cut it helps to stop it from slaying out
I have plastic coated braided hose. So I need to cut that back about 6-8mm
The fittings are for teflon hose .
Make sure you have the right fittings for the type of hise your using. . The teflon ones have this olive to seal against the tubing
so started off take your tape off and slide the nut over the tube . Then open out the steel braiding.
then slide the olive on down to the shoulder of it
using the special tool to open out the tubing to make sure the fitting slides in is this special tool
you can get all differnt ends for different size and fittings then slide the rest of the fitting in to the tube
all the way to the end
then I bought these ally clamps to not scratch the fittings that fit on to the vice
Also these ally adjustable spanners too also so they don't scratch. And then tighten

A big thank you to fuelabs the the 2 low pressure intank pumps
an to torques for the 2 pick up pipes that go on to the tank and bulk head connections to suit
So remove the old fittings
and screw in the new ones
the push the pipe on to the barbed end and on to the pump. Do this for both. And secure with the jubilee clips supplied
Just need to wire in. I have drilled and fitted a electrical gland for the wire to go threw.
When wired in I will refit the foam insert. And screw the top down..... might have to buy some fancy screws for that..? off to eBay

Quick test fit of the tank box and tank in the hole
and with the fuel system stuff layed out. Roughly where it's going to go. Just got to finish some of the platforms and paint them

Morning all. Right bits of progress finally welding the steering coloum. And lengthened the coloum.
Just need to do a bend or 2 just to help angle it down towards me.
Next fuel cell is now hopefully plumed in and electrics done. The rest of the fuel set up (incar not engine yet) it now laied out and bolted down into nutserts. I just need to start making fuel lines. That's a job for tonight
But it's all slowly getting there now. Still loads and loads todo but can also see progress. Hopefully get me meet some of you lot at super touring power in June.

Me and my lad are still hoping to get down to Brands for the Super touring event. Can’t wait to see this car of yours.

We’re going to Le Mans, it’s Oulton Park BTCC which is the nearest to us, Tatton park classic show and this at Brands, all weekends in June. May need to sweeten the missus up.
But we defo want to get to Brands.

Afternoon all. I have been playing about and mounted the dash pod unit
it lines up quite nicely threw the steering wheel and the column we made .
Next up is the rain light for motorsport. I looked at in the rear window.. or using the original fog lights etc. But found this msa spec light that was nearly the same size as the rear seat badge recess. So I was going to mount it to the boot lid.. but then opted to make a bracket then mount it near on flush.
With the decision of staying hydraulic power steering but not using the original pump. As using any thing that is driven from the engine it takes power away from the engine. And I found some figuring out that a power steering pump using more power than an electrical power steering pump. So with that I got an astra h pump unit. But thought it will be working hard. So fitted another cooler to the front on top of the inter cooler
Only a little 7 row jobbie but it will help to cool the fluid.... hopefully

With new job. Buying house etc. Funds arnt as available as there where... but we do have progress.
Also my Internet wouldn't let me upload pics. But the Mrs ( also now married too).
Has now changed suppliers. So hopefully I can back track a bit and now show you whats been going on .

So back in July. There was some thing called supertouring at brands hatch. It was basicly all the touring cars us old people.like
1990s and early 2000s. Mondeos primeras 405 406 laguna. And loads more.
Any way the leon got loaded up on to a trailer I had to buy.. and taken for a 4 hourish drive to go on display
It still just a rolling shell with stickers. There was a few people from cupranet down there and popped along to say hello. And to look at the thing. I know.its not every ones cup o tea . But its sort of my vision.
Also must thank a bloke who done an amazing job on detailing it. It was a sort of bucket list car for him. To detail a race car. Also got my road car and the mrs done too.

Any ideas.

Very much my cup of tea. I love the MK1 anyway but love what you have done to it. As you have moved do you still have a workshop or are you now based out of your garage and driveway.

It was in the old workshop i was renting. About 3 hours away. So done very little on it then. But now I got a workshop at the bottom of the garden lol
So can bugger about even for half hour . So more little bits can get done too.
But now I am near skegness area I dont know any one or companys who can help when I need stuff done.
Machining, blasting. Powder coating etc. I will find them in the end tho.

In a bordom moment. I made a carbon scuttle panel.. made it from some off cuts and then secured with nutsets ...
The dash board was looking a bit old and worn. I had to do some cuts to miss the cage. So it wasn't looking its best.

Rear half of the fuel system is plumbed .. there is 2 pumps in the tank that lift fuel to the swirl pot. Threw a filter each. Then out the swirl pot threw an other finer filter and threw 2 high pressure pumps...
Then the return pipe connects to the top over flow of the swirl pot if there is no room it returns to the tank. Also at the top of the swirl is a one way valve so it not pressures the return line

Astra mk5 power steering pump fitted in a cradle. I was looking at a clio electric coloum, but after driving 1. To me I felt it lacked feel.
So staying with the fluid set up.
