The dealer has offered to pay half of the cost of a new set of tyres.

Continental 7 or Michelin 5s? My car is the VZ2 estate.

I would go Continental 7 personally. They seem to getting good reviews but I'm sure either would be good. I've got a 73 plate vz2 on Hankooks from factory. I've done 13k and I haven't noticed any cracking but going to keep a close eye on them now.....

Whilst I am happy with the tyres, when washing the car, I’ve found that the tyre fitter has nicked each wheel in an almost identical way. What colour paint would I need for touch up?

These are the Hankooks I took off the front of Leon this morning. The one with less damage blew whilst driving. 6 months of ownership and I've only done 5k in them!

Um, that's called a REALLY bad alignment issue there
Need to have a look at your tyres regularly to spot issues like that

That does look like something much more amiss that just dodgy tyres to be down to the cords in just 5K miles...and in the same place on both sides.

Well this is it. I do check them every 6 months. Unfortunately or fortunately, whichever way you want to look at it. 😂 The one with lesser damage blew first! I'd expect better off a main dealer than that. Worst tyres I've ever had on a car! 5k, that's all I have done! 90% of my driving is on motorways!

I know the hankooks do wear quickly but that's crazy. I changed my hankooks after 19k and they still had nearly 3mm left on the fronts.

I would go back to the dealer and get them to pay for a 4 wheel allignment. It definitely looks like something more serious than just the tyres.

I contacted the dealership and he said our service team will in touch ASAP. As you can imagine, I haven't heard a thing off of them. 🤷
