Good evening,

I picked up my new Terramar today! Beautiful car, inside and out. But when I was driving it home, I noticed a fairly loud whirring fan noise coming from somewhere in the region of the central rear-view mirror. It sometimes turned off and then back on again, seemingly at random. It's not a nice noise and is pretty noticable.

Has anyone else has this? Is it normal? Is there a fan in there or something? It sounded a bit like when a bathroom extractor fan is on the blink.

Regards,

Dec.

There could very well be a fan incorporated within the driver assist camera? Maybe that's the source of the noise?

I think you’re right. It was pretty loud, is that normal? I had been driving on the motorway for around 30 mins when it started.

For it to be noticeable, no. They should be pretty much silent.

Would it be possible for you to get a video of the noise (via a passenger recording it)? That way, you could speak to your supplying dealer and have them investigate the concern.

Thanks a lot for your advice. I’ll do just that tomorrow. If the fan is broken it could cause the driver assistance camera to overheat too I’d guess. Other than that, such a nice car!

I used the app to book an investigation appointment, but the earliest I could get was in December. So I'd better phone them up and see if I can have it looked at sooner. It's still doing it, really annoying noise.

You get tea in China cup and a biscuit whilst you wait 😉.

I didnt know the camera had a fan. My lane assist on an Ateca I'd say doesnt. Reading the first post I took as a leaky windscreen seal but may be they have more electronics in them now that needs fanning.
