Hi all, I think I have the rattle, now with my car being under warranty do I try and claim through seat will i hear is a right pain or buy a clip and try it.

Sorry if this is said before I’m just trying to figure out what to do.

Thanks for any advice

Hi mate, get it done under warranty, it’s a well know issue that should be fixed at the dealers, have a look at my previous posts on this issue. Be assertive with them until it gets done under warranty 👍

@leontsibob - if you do consider going the warranty route then check the small print in your warranty to see if the fix would be covered.

I seem to remember you bought your car relatively recently (earlier this year?), so presumably the warranty you have is either the Seat Approved Used warranty if you bought your car from a Seat dealer or a third party warranty if you bought your car from a non-Seat dealer. If so, then the warranty cover may be more restrictive than the cover under the original three year new car factory warranty provided by Seat with the car when it was new.

If it’s not covered under warranty, you might be able to get the dealer to do it as a goodwill gesture as it shouldn’t be an expensive fix - assuming they only need to fit the wastegate rod rattle clip. Good luck! 🤞

Thanks for the reply’s, my car is under seat used warranty, i will definitely want this doing, it’s got to back to the dealer anyway as the rust on the front wing they supposedly had fixed in July is coming back through which I’m not happy about.

Will let you know what happens

Be persistent, Crewe Seat did mine under their 2 year used warranty plan, I provided photographs of the turbo wastegate actuator rod repair kits, so they know it’s a problem 👍

Not all dealerships have purpose-built bodywork repair facilities - if your dealer doesn’t and if they did the wing repair themselves rather than sub contract the job out to a reputable, high quality body shop, then it’s likely you got a sub-standard repair, especially as corrosion has already reappeared so soon after the repair. It needs to be repaired correctly and in accordance with Seat’s repair techniques / standards to stand any chance of being a long term repair.

I’d personally consider fixing the wing corrosion with a top quality, permanent repair to a priority over fixing the actuator rattle, especially as we’re heading into winter when copious quantities of salt and grit (not good for corrosion) will be spread on the roads, although both the wing and the actuator rattle need fixing.

Good luck 🤞- look forward to your updates.
