2.0TDi missfire?

Hi guys,


Today I noticed an occasional stutter while the engine was idling.


The engine doesn’t always stutter at idle—it only happens from time to time. The RPM on the instrument cluster doesn’t change when it happens.


Could this actually be an engine stutter, or could it be caused by a failing dual-mass flywheel (DMF)?


I’ve also experienced a very brief stutter at 130 km/h while using adaptive cruise control. It only lasted for a split second, and there are no warning lights or fault messages.


Has anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas what could be causing it?

I experience a brief stutter, whilst driving, when the car starts a regen. Next time it happens, make sure the Start/Stop is active and go into the Stop/Start Status screen. Then see if there's a message saying 'Engine must be running'. If you see this, it's doing regen.

The stutter/shudder at idle could be your injectors. You can check the injector deviation values and that will give you an idea if they are good or not.

I got these results from the other post where we were chatting about injector deviation. Seems to be ok!

Yeah - those results are excellent. I had issues once with mine when it would stall at idle. Needed to replace the fuel pressure sensor on the fuel rail. Not sure if that is causing your issue though.

What’s confusing me, that this stutter doesn’t happen always, just sometimes. Injector fail would be too soon for this mileage. Or not? :/

If one of my injectors was bad, wouldn’t the engine idle roughly all the time instead of only occasionally? Could it also be related to fuel quality?


I checked the engine yesterday, and everything looks completely dry from the outside, both around the injectors and the hp pump.
