Need advice with Progress report

Taking out the old gear box from the arosa tomorrow, need to know does it need the front panel taken off or can i remove the box with out doing more than i have to:confused:

it can't be that hard.

my guess is get the car as high up as you can safely (and well supported)

undo driveshaft bolts, drain g/box oil (it'll make it that bit lighter)

remove starter motor, undo g/box linkage & clutch cable or hydraulics

support engine (trollery jack under the sump with wood)

Support g/box

undo g/box mount, and work your way around the bell housing removing the bolts.

pull gearbox off (towards chassis leg) and drop it down - v heavy & awkward, do not be under it. if in doubt - put something soft there (I had some polystyrene to 'catch' it on as I did it all on my own.

Cheers m0rk have the car up on ramps at the mo have separated the half shafts on new box after scrappy cut them just needed guidance on how to go about it. Dont worry Grandad will be watching to make sure i dont break the car or myself will add some pictures as we go about it.

engine will be supported by grandads engine hoist built into garage roof

Gaz I have little images going through my mind like this is going to be like a top gear challenge. You going to get Amanda to dress up like the stig and drive it across the finishing line ? If you have an engine hoist it should be pretty easy.
