I have had a knock on my car for nearly 6 months and have been unable to find the problem till now.
Here is a link to show the problem
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUeV1C6mqNk
I checked mine and the were slack and I get nearly 2 turns until the torque was reached. If this happens again I will need to replace these bolts.
After searching the net it seems a big problem on mk5 golf but nothing on Leon!
Hope this helps someone cure there annoying knock when turning sharp:D

I will be having a look at my FR this weekend. Makes more of a noise when on lock to the right but not as bad on the left.
Do we have to get these kits from the USA?

Sounds about right...I have some thread lock in the house, its designed to keep bolts/nuts in place where there is vibrations. very cheap on the net

Mine was more when turning right.
I have ordered the bolts and spacers from Dave at seremotors at a total cost of £9
Mine will be here by the weekend if they are 100% right I will post the numbers on here.
Can't believe that's what my noise was.

awesome thread! mine has started to kick in today on the passenger

happens:-
during low speed (20-30mph?)
on uneven surface road
turning left (or steering back to the right)
causing a metalic sound (metal tap/clonk)

Im not 100% sure if this is the cause however its a good start and cheap fix for £9!

Well I ordered the bolts and shims the other day but the numbers I had were correct for the shims and correct for the 2 outside rear wishbone bolts but not for the subframe bolts.
I wanted my wishbone ones changed as 1 would not torque up it was going to break.
Anyway fitted the shims and replaced the 2 wishbone bolts and retorqued all and its still quiet.
What a difference.
So here is what you need
7m3499349a shim x2
n91039801 bolt x2
this will cost about £5 and takes 5 mins
I wish I had found this earlier.
Has anyone else cured there noise then?

Kev...

was your knocking sound anything like mine? did it sounded tinny or metalic? and does it also happen on the straight at slow speeds? its what im getting at the moment.

(recently had a cv joint boot gaitor replaced)

Mine was a heavy knock only when turning sharp so this may not be your fix but worth checking mate.

The bolts were all tight so I took them out one by one and put some lock tight on that I had in my AA van. Spoke to VW/Seat specialist garage that I use near me and he hasn’t had any issues but will keep an eye out on other models.
Thanks again.

I do have some metalic noise when go over a bump just up to 50mph and not on every single one.
should I check subframe bolts ? if so do I have to take off engine cover to tighten this bolts ??

Same problem here, it drives me nuts..
It feels like my wheels are loose when I hit the bump at low speeds.

Hi Gents. I am new to the Seat family. I have a 06 TFSI FR.
I also have aknocking sound, but only on acceleration and braking. If i open the door its gone. The link to youtube is not working anymore and was hoping that someone can give me some guidance.

Thanks in advance

I think i have the solution for this knock. Go to the ecs tuning site and do a search for the part number:
ES2102460

Watch the video and compare if your knock is something like the one on the video.

It's cheaper doing it with OEM parts. They cost me a total of £9 and I have listed the part numbers earlier in this thread.

Opps never replied back to this thread.

Just so you know my issue with the knocking at very low speed (with a metalic knocking sound). It was the subframe bolts...(when the garage replaced a CV boot gaitor, apparently they didn't torque up my bolts enough...) (yes scary).

I still have the newly uprated ones to fit...but err they can wait. No rush to replace the current ones.

Ps. Thanks to SerenMotors for the parts (or newly uprated bolts even)*
