Hi everyone,I have a 03 Ibiza 1.4 16v sport 100bhp which lately seems to be guzzling fuel and generally running rough. The check engine light has been on for a short while and when i plugged it in to Vag com on a friends computer i was given a fault of Fuel trim to lean.

I have been told that it could possibly be the maf sensor so was gonna try that first as it is not too expensive. My question is where do i find it on the mk4? I have a haynes manual but for some reason it shows it in the middle of the air intake duct which is a totally different setup to mine.Mine is the type with the air filter box built into the plastic engine cover.I would be really greatfull if somebody could give me a heads up as to where to find it and if indeed whether they think this could be the answer. Many thanks in advance.

Apologies if this has already been covered but i cannot seem to find the answere anyway.

You won't find it because there is no MAF sensor. There is a MAP plug that goes on the left side of the air intake so try removing the plug and checking the wire conditions and the contacts.

You can use a wire brush on the contacts on the plug if it looks corroded.
