No, 1.2 TSi is a turbo-charged 3 cylinder 12 valve, similar to the current 1.2 used in the Ibiza, but with a turbo. Gets very good reviews in the Polo, and official fuel consumption is around 51mpg in the Polo(presumably on the combined cycle), while the CO2 output is 130g/km, which at the moment is group D and would cost £120 a year to tax.

No thats wrong, this is an all-new 4-cylinder turbocharged engine unrelated to the 3-cylinder 1.2 in the Ibiza and Polo. Its currently been rolled out across all VAG cars to replace the old 1.6 102PS.

You'd need the manifold etc as well. Supposed you could see if its like the one off the old single turbo model 1.4. All the equipment to make it like the 1.4TSI would cold a lot garret turbo and Eaton supercharger is not gonna be cheap. You'd be better selling your car and getting a Cupra or FR.

well, it is kinda easier doing it step by step =) asking it just for curiosity, I need some 17" wheels plus sport springs first lol

Go for some wild CAM's, throttle body, exhaust, 4-2-1 and de-cat. High revving naturally aspirated engine could be fun instead of a turbo.

Only problem.. non of that stuff will be available since the engine is so new.

The n/a 1.4 16v and 1.4 TSi engines are completely different.

n/a is cambelt drivem

TSi is chain driven being the biggest difference not to mention its also direct injection.

From what i've heard on youtube (not in cabin while giving it some) they still sound a little like sewing machines.

My old 8v 1.4 106 Quiksilver sounded the same. My 16v 1.6 106 GTi sounded nice though.

What about the 90PS 1.4 FSi that was breifly available in the VW Golf MK5? Pretty sure that was direction injection. They dropped that engine from the lineup almost the day the TSi came out.

Yes as is the 1.6 16v. The 1.4 16v is the only one left now of the old school petrols.

But the 1.6 is been discontinued whilst the 1.4 remains on the market, seems a bit odd.

IMHO i think the new ibiza should have the following engines
1.2 tsi 105 in S & SE spec
1.4 tsi 125 in SPORT spec
FR & CUPRA as seen
personally hoping for a 5 DOOR FR TDI CR 140 :D please please please

if you get the 1.4 tsi with turbo and supercharger there 160bhp

The 1.4 FSi was iirc also used in the Polo, and was chain driven I think, not seen many of them.

The 1.6 is kind of an odd one, not seen it in any other car other than the Ibiza myself, its based on the FSi engine but isnt an FSi.
