Hi Folks,

I've just cleaned the throttle body on my 1.4 8v Ibiza and it has started to over rev whilst driving and also has a very high idle speed.

I've done an ECU reset by disconnecting the battery and then left on ignition till that whiny noise stopped as it reset itself.

However, this has not worked and the revs at idle constantly bounce around the one to two thousand rpm mark..

Any ideas what is causing this and how I could fix it??

Cheers.

Mine did this when i cleaned my throttle body, i just drove it around for a week and it was back to normal

Hi,

Just a quick update I thought may help anyone else that may search for this problem.

After 4 months of this problem continuing, I took the car to two garages and a specialist shop all to no avail. No air leak was evident, nor did the throttle body appear to be damaged. It came down to start replacing one part after another until the problem was fixed.

Lucky for me it was the first part that I ordered! Turns out that it was a faulty temperature sensor.

Put the new one in and it now idles as it should do. :funk:
