Hello all,

Just thought I'd say hello and hopefully someone can help me.

My missus has a mk2 1999 1.4 petrol Ibiza with the multipoint injection (8V).
Last year the car started to idle intermittently, i.e. sometimes would idle, other times not.

Missus took the car to a friend who owns a garage, he said he read the ecu and there were no faults logged? In addition he said that he'd cleaned the throttle body - now the car idles at around 2000rpm, occasionally dropping to 1600 rpm and then back up to 2000 rpm - its like the cars' possessed.

I've done a little reading and understand there is no idle adjust. I removed the throttle body last week and there are no passages to block within the throttle body!!. Anyway I decided to replace the throttle body with a new'un off the bay (cheap), but the problem still exists.

Anybody help out there??
In addition are there any fault codes that can be read without using a code reader or laptop??

Any info. much appreciated.

Cheers

Tony

OK thanks for the reply. Must I do this using Vagcom software or is there another method.
