I know you get problems with any kind of car, but the extent of problems some people have had with these seem a bit silly.

I'v had my <3 set on one since iv seen them but i would hate to get into some finance deal to then have the car live in a garage, its kind of scaring me away from it.

Have there been problems with the VRS's, Polo GTIs and A1s fitted with same engine?

Rather than post this, which will turn into a massive rant, usually non cupra vs cupra owners defending their cars.

You should of searched, in short the cars are very reliable, there were a few teething probs but they seem to be sorted. You have to remember you only hear the negatives with a forum. The biggest prob seems to be the diesels and the DPF

Yeah mate i have looked at alot of posts and i understand its a collective of alot of the same cars, so the problems will pop up more often.

I was wondering about the same engine fitted to the more expensive cars though as well.

I'm one of the few to have had problems with this engine. Luckily i now have a new car. On a place like this the problems are magnified as such a tiny percentage of 1.4tsi owners are here, many of which have had problems and searched for help resulting in them finding this forum. I wouldn't let it scare you off of the car chances are you wont have any problems what so ever. If unfortunately you do then you have this forum as a tool to look for help and suggestions on what to do :) The engine is fantastic so don't let it put you off ;)

Thanks for the insight, i had the same kind of problem with my existing car. I read alot of problems people have, and people buying the car then having to spend nearly the price of the car to fix the gearbox, but i still bought one! (with a warranty to back it up). Current car is a C2 VTR with the sensodrive semi-auto box, which i have no problems with.

Thats what leads me to want a proper DSG box, i like control of gears without a clutch pedal :D

Coming from someone with experience, think theirs your answer...

VAG as a whole are renouned for its reliability and inovations, iam sure there were problems with the 1.8t engine, e.g. the plastic waterpump impella but that carried on been rolled out for years and ive seen 1.8t's with over 200,000miles hahaha ;)

from a cupra/boc perspective maybe im wrong here but havn't the most serious problems with these cars been with the early models of them (09 plate etc?)

also i think that most problems to do with the emissions lights and loss of power have now been solved with a software update?

dont know too much about diesels im afraid

So how can you say the above, then......

You don't like people suggesting the Cupra/Boc may have reliability problems, but it's ok for you to say exactly that about the diesel models

not read of a single failure in the fabia vRS yet. only on here and as said, its the same few guys.

vRSy - what colour did you order yours in? iv seen a green one around South Wales and a white one in Bristol with loads of vinyls and stickers over - both looked amazing!
